2 car garage lift vs 2 separate garage door
Comments (7)I think it depends on the angle of approach and size of the cars. A "double wide" is always easier and I have seen the results a few times of the miscalculation. So it is a balance of aesthetics, cost and function. Nothing unusual there. Front of house may argue for single doors more but who has a 3 car garage on the front. We copied a house that was on a corner lot and had 3 singles. There was a discussion about looks but cost won out. If you do decide on the double wide, then you have to then decide where to put the double - we went with closer to the entrance door since we knew that the double would be used more. That wasn't a universal decision in our neighborhood but it made sense to us. BTW - no trucks/SUVs here - with a nice wide driveway but just yesterday, someone was parked in the drive and my wife never would have made it out with a single door....See More3 Car Garage with no entry/exit door?
Comments (13)Not all new construction homes in Arizona are built with side entry doors anymore. I don't quite understand it and seems like a potential fire trap. What if the garage caught fire with someone in it and the door entering the house was locked? Sure, you might be able to remotely open the overhead if you could find the remote in time or manually pull it open, but how long could that take? Not everyone is capable of lifting up those heavy doors. I see many homes in the community where I live that don't have side doors. Buyers usually don't notice until they move in and go to take the trash out (usually through the garage)....See MoreHow do I stop a garage door from dripping rain on my car???!!!
Comments (22)I have the same issue and for a long time I could not figure out how the rain water is landing on top the car especially after I weather-stripped the top and sides of the door - until today when I just happened to open the garage door to clean the water mess on the car, the water came pouring through the sectionals of the door! Now it is simply not just the few drops of water that is the nuisance - if your car has some or lots of) dust the water drops create a messy look after the water drops on the car dry out - it looks really yucky on most cars and especially on a black car! If you want to go out and it is still raining, sure, the mess will be washed off but what if it is bone dry outside (sunny or not) - one is compelled to wash the mess off oneself or take the car to the car wash, unless one is ok with a messy looking car. This is quite annoying if this happens frequently as it does in the rainy season....See MorePLEASE HELP! Dormers or arch over front door with a front car garage?
Comments (29)#3. All brick with siding under porch. Get rid of faux stone accents on corners at foundation. Do not pay extra for those. They are awful. If you have to have stone, only do it along the base of the foundation. Paint the garage doors as close to the color of the brick that you select to remove emphasis of huge garage doors. There is no hiding them, but you don't want them to be the focal point. Why #3? It has the most simple elevation and avoids most of the McMansion from Hell elements. That's why. If it were me, I'd do all brick. Then, I'd paint the brick and garage door the same color....See Moretlbean2004
