How to get rid of Moles/Voles in my Garden ???
Comments (137)Watermelons! I never would have thought they could bother those. I am surprised they aren't eating your wife's tomatoes. Maybe the hot peppers being next to the tomatoes is deterring them. I did try making a garlic and hot pepper solution that I sprayed on the onions and soil. I think it worked for a day or two, but after that the voles were back at the onions. They are eating my onions, potatoes, and asparagus. I expect they will get into the sweet potatoes too. I never expected anything to want to eat the onions, that one surprised me!...See Morehow to get rid of mosquitoes
Comments (13)The type of plants in your yard won't eliminate them, but can make a difference in the population. They're attracted to the shade of dense shrubs during the heat of day, so use of airy plants or more open pruning can be less inviting. Not a lot of hard science on the mosquito repelling effects of odors/oils of some plants, but enough anecdotal support to suspect there is some truth there. We were regularly attacked by mosquitoes during late afternoon/dusk swims before we "xeriscaped" the pool; now it's not so bad - not 100%, but guessing its better than an 80% reduction. The autumn sages (salvia greggii) and copper canyon daisy (tagetes lemmonii) in particular are pungent compared to the indian hawthorn, abelias, and dwarf nandinas they replaced. So if you can stand the smell, you might experiment with these or others to see if they have any effect in your garden space. Comments (13)you may strike up a conversation about your allergies - if you can bring it up in casual conversation - how your allergies prevent you from using perfume, hairsprays, fragrant lotions and soaps and strong smelling cleaning solutions - and it really bothers you to be around those scents. many people, if aware that is a problem, will be considerate enough not use those in your home- my doctors office has posted a sign that says "many of our clients are sensitive to strong fragances, please refrain from wearing them in our waiting room, serious offenders may be asked to leave." ... perhaps you could make a sign for your door kind of the like the warning this house is protected by sonitrol .... but instead warning no artificial scents past this point... i do sympathize with your sensitivity to odors - instant migraine for me ......See Morehow to get rid of cat odor?
Comments (8)I too, moved into a house where there were cats that had sprayed. I didn't notice it when I looked at the house. I tried all sorts of odor/enzyme removers/Kilz paint which only helped for a short time. I had to cut out the wood base flooring, cut out the drywall and 2x4 studs and replace it. Sometimes if the humid/wind is just right I will still get a faint odor. Just my own opinion- NEVER buy a house with a cat odor if you are aware of it. Hope you do better than I did- it was alot of work......See Moreprairie_rose
