Missing

It was on the kitchen sink last night right after dinner about 6:15pm. 5:00am gone! Gone I tell ya. Vanished!

By a process of elimination I have determind that it is located somewhere on our 1/2 acre either inside or outside the house.

I think it was gone by 8:00 pm actually cause I found one from the big bathroom in the kitchen at that time. Thot that was odd. I really really hate to loose it - the top is cracked and if it gets secreted away lying down it will leak and make a super mess. I just HOPE it is standing up. Not only that there is at least 40 cents worth of liquid soap in it.

So, where have you found missing things before? By now you must have been into the 'fridge, but have you looked in the freezer? Good luck!

Try under the sink, you might have confused it with dish soap! When we reach a certain age, not necessarily the same for everyone, we just have to give it up as "forever lost" & go buy a new 1 then if it's going to turn up it will. Otherwise figure it's out in the universe floating around some where!

The problem is searching logically which doesn't work because the item was secreted illogically. It's just not possible to try to put yourself in the demented persons mind frame.

A lid for a pyrex bowl went gone one day. I found it several months later under a pile of quilting material. I moved the pile because it was getting dusty. Now that had to have been deliberately placed beneath the mat'l because it had sat unused for about a year.

I've learned to look under things; have found letters beneath Kleenex boxes. A 9-pak of gum (doublemint - her favorite) was a perfect fit under a small wicker basket. Sat there a few months. I've lookt in the freezers so many time the electric bill is up.

None of this is malicious. She's the sweetest tempered thing on earth. I just hope that soap don't leak.

Well I found it! In plain sight on her desk by her phone. Just now. Was it there yesterday? Dunno. I lamped that desk several times. That's how it goes. Things turn up. 3 rooms away from the kitchen. She no longer uses that desk - doesn't really know the phone is there. Usually have to point right at it so she can pick it up. Her med cards disappear, I search every piece of her clothing, purse etc nope then 1 or 4 months later they'll lying on the counter in plain sight. Where had they been?

It's the mssg phone and I just checked the mssgs last night (3 old ones) didn't see that soap. AAARRRRGGGHHHH. :-)

The lid under quilting material is perfectly logical, She was thinking of cutting some material for a quilt & needed a perfect circle so the lid would work well, she would reverse the fabric(wrong side up & lightly trace around the lid for a perfect circle), Letters may have been under the Kleenex box as she had a sniffle or knew the box out where ever was empty & she was going to take the tissues & letters to same place(but forgot to do it) She figured she would take both things at once saving herself a trip. It might just be we women think differently than you gentlemen or she thinking was right on she just didn't follow through!! I think you had a very organized lady! She may have put the soap near the phone as she liked to put on hand lotion while she talked on the phone, something I've often seen women do. Now she just thinks the soap is lotion as bottles look almost the same. She thinks she is doing it like she always did. Hang in there!! You are a trouper! Jan

I originally posted this thread just for an amusing insert to all the terrible problems. By doing so I do believe I've gotten an insight to what is really happening.

I think she picks something up and nearly immediately forgets why and what it is for or maybe what it is and therefore hasn't a clue what to do with it. She then casts around for a solution and who can predict what that might be.

    >>It might just be we women think differently than you gentlemen>>I think you had a very organized lady! She was very organised and disiplined with a blinding intellect. It was nearly impossible to answer a question completely. About 1/2 way thru she'd interupt with another question on and on till the subject was nailed down. Quite amusing to watch. Store clerks were just dead meat.

I asked her about that early on and she told me she didn't need the whole answer, the first 1/2 was "all I need to know" etc. For all that she never put on a "superior" act in any way and was extremey popular. Still is.

Long as I'm at it - Disciplin! at Xmas I'd give us both a pound of See's Candy. Her last piece would be on November 30. Mine lasted till Dec 27th.

Jan is probably more right-on than you imagine. For moment-in-time she was going to quilt.

ðÂÂÂ. I'm with you on how long the See's candy would last!
Maybe hers lasts longer because she forgets about it.
