Proffesional Ranges
Comments (5)While waiting to see if we have any direct replies, you might try searching for past threads and maybe turn up somebody you could e-mail about their ranges. Having trouble turning up threads here with the internal search function? For the present, it seems to me that the Houzz engine is as hit or miss as the previous Gardenweb one. You might have better luck by going out to Google, Bing, Ask, or whatever. Try a search string like "gardenweb + nxr + 48-inch range" for NXRs, "gardenweb + Blue Star + 48-inch range" for Blue Stars, etc. Add the word "propane" to the search string to narrow that even more. I don't recall seeing any discussions here about the 48" American Range. Are the 48" Miele's even shipping? Last I recall hearing about them (from a post a couple of weeks ago) was that a display model was expected sometime soon at a showroom in Beverly Hills. http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2812367/new-miele-dual-fuel-gas-range-experience My recollection is that most of the NXR discussions here have been about the 30" and 36" ranges. I only recall a couple of posters mentioning the 48" version. IRC. One of them had some pretty big problems with the range initially delivered and also posted on chowhound. According to a follow-up posting the other day on Chowhound, the problems got taken care of last year after the poster contacted Costco and he/she has been very pleased with the range since then. Here's a link: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/685147?page=3 If you have access to Consumer Reports online, there was a disappointed buyer of a 48" NXR who posted a review on CR's report on the 30" NXR model. If you haven't already checked Costco.com, I think there are a couple of positive reviews there under the page for the 48" model and I think there was a negative report on the 48" model posted on the page for the 30" NXR model. I do not recall any specific discussions of propane conversions/versions of the above 48" ranges but I think there have been some postings on LP set-ups for 30" and 36" models from AR, Blue Star. and NXR....See MoreAnyone have experience with Verona dual fuel ranges
Comments (3)I've had a 36" Verona dual fuel single oven range since April and so far, I love it. The fan comes on as soon as you put the oven on and stays on until the oven cools down. It can be a bit annoying. But that's my only complaint so far. From what I've read, most of the bigger ranges have fan noise so it comes with the territory, I guess. I haven't invested in an oven thermometer yet but so far it seems to be accurate. I have no issues with quality--it's a beautiful appliance that has functioned well since the day I got it....See MoreWho has experience with Miele M-Touch dual fuel stoves?
Comments (12)Joe, the cast iron grates are scratched/discoloured? I'm a bit confused--I'd wondered about the range top surface being cleanable/durable etc but the grates themselves? I'd think those black cast iron would scratch about as much as a cast iron frying pan= not at all? Tuning into your thread Sid--I've been contemplating Miele range also as we approach a new build, and have been waiting also to hear more feedback on these ranges. Good to hear from Joe that the burners are probably reliable--that is something I wonder about also -- I've had a Miele cooktop for over a dozen years , same with oven, and the one thing that's been finicky is the ignitors on the burners. Not in love with them, but hard to know if others are any better with electronic ignition these days. I do tend to tune in when I hear owners complain about click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click....would love to avoid that completely in the next stove purchase. My partner loves Miele products, so I have a feeling that's what we'll be getting...hoping you'll get some more recent feedback on the ranges. Have you seen the other threads on them? There's a few....See More36" Range Top/ Convection Oven: Miele, Wolf or Blue Star?
Comments (5)Anecdotally people say that BS simmers but there is no way to compare in the way you can the top end of heat, BTUs to BTUs because they have never said what the BTU rating is on the low end as other manufacturers have done. They rate in temperature which is pretty meaningless. There are work arounds for that though. The high BTUs,with more flame to the center cannot be worked around other than to use something like a cast iron pan instead of a wok. Only you can decide if it is worth it to give up that function for $2000. You might also buy the package and sell the Miele rangetop and buy the BS. Search Wolf blue chipping on this forum. This has been a long term problem and no fix....See MoreBruce Crawford
