Karyn you are right on the base I think... it appears to be mostly purpureas that I'm trying to kill... there are no Japanese style morning glories that I've seen, this doesn't have the hideously mis formed blooms nor the compound leaves, it's almost a perfect spider along the lines of a miniature spider day lily bloom. I think it's kinda neat if I do say so myself. lol I've already tagged the bloom and it is setting seed had a second bloom today on the same plant that was exactly the same so it's not a one time thing caused by something other genetics. :) Can you provide a link Kylie? can't find it with google...

I'm in Central Florida also. The monarchs I raise I do it a bit unconventional. I don't plant the plant, rather I plant the pot that it is in. I keep 3 one gallon milkweed plants per hole. When one has good cats on it, I take it in the screened porch or netting. Put out a plant that has been waiting to get in the ground. Sounds pricey, but I'm saving money rotating these guys. When they gobble up the plant, I cut the stalk in half and it has about 2-3 weeks to rehab into a nice bushy plant again. Started doing this after I had a bad batch all die on me. So from now on I'm confident that if I have a bad batch it will be confined to one plant. Just my $.02 . I also use something called a Waspinator. It is supposed to mimic a hornets nest and scare the wasps away. I'm surprised at the number of wasps that have left. I do still see some, but much less than before. I see spiders, but they don't really put a dent in anything.

I am looking to set up some spring trades over the long boring winter where I can't garden here in zone 5. TO TRADE: I have collections of sedums (15 kinds), hens and chicks (25 kinds), mints (10 kinds), TONS OF IRISES and some other flowers to offer. Most of my daylilies are new so most will not be up for dividing this year. Some will but I won't really be able to tell which until spring so I hoping to mostly trade other plants for daylilies. BUT I LOVE REPEAT HONEST TRADERS - and will keep track of them!!! I am looking for spiders, unsual forms, very unusal colors, and some ruffled edges. I prefer to NOT add any more yellows or oranges to my garden but there is always an exception. Would realy like Hot Chocolate daylily. Email me if you are intersted at myohhmy@comcast.net might want to put daylilies in headers so I don't accidently delete them. THANKS!!!

Brigite, your glut of spiders won't persist. Spiders have their own natural predators and I would suspect that the population in your yard will normalize after awhile. I have a lot of spiders, too. I don't let them hang around in my outdoor living areas, though. Every so often, I do a sweep under patio furniture and doorways so that I can hang out or go outside without ending up with a spider or her webs all over me. Black widows are very common around here, another reason for the sweeps.
