ID this invasive vine

I purchased a property and am looking to clean up some invasive vines that are climbing up a wooden fence and deck. I'm not sure what it is and it's hard to tell because it is now dormant and has no leaves. I initially thought poison ivy, but I don't think it's that because parts of it grow outward like a bush. I'm in RI if it makes a difference determining what it is. I want to know if I can safely cut it out.

I haven't found any leaves or berries on it. If you see any berries nearby it's coming from a thorned bush which I believe is nightshade.

Check out Parthenocissus quinquefolia (Virginia creeper) It is difficult without foliage to make a positive ID

I agree with peren.all that it is Parthenocissus quinquefolia (Virginia creeper). It's a native vine, not an import, but it will grow vigorously and sometimes is difficult to convince it that it is unwanted, though I wouldn't call it invasive. On the other hand, it has stunning red fall color.

You could post your photos on the Name that plant forum for confirmation.

Carol It does look like that except I don't ever see berries on this which kind of made me think it might be something else. This year I'll pay even closer attention to it but all I've ever seen is the green vine part. Thanks so much for responding.

Oh, man, where'd you see that? Just what we need around here, another invasive smothering vine. I live near the Palisades (the Hudson River ones) and they're already covered with Japanese Honeysuckle, Oriental Bittersweet, Mile-a-Minute Vine, and Wisteria. Not to mention the occasional patch of Akebia. The Mile-a-Minute Vine just showed up here in the last 10 years or so; guess this is the next thing to look forward to. WW

Thanks to everyone who responded. I am 100% it is not Virginia Creeper. We have VC here and while it can be a bit of a nuisance, it grows nowhere near as fast as this stuff. VC's more mature vines are also somewhat "woody", but this vine is very tender everywhere. After ya'll pointed out the similarities between this vine and VC I googled "Vitaceae" (VC family), but found nothing of any use. This vine has yet to make any berries, fwiw. I feel sure this stuff will get killed back with the first frost we get, but I'm sure that when it warms back up in the spring, it will come back from it's roots and continue its rapid growth. It's roots are tuber like, and I'm guessing that if someone were to try and till these vines up, they would have a bigger problem than before. I think I'll post this in the "weeds" section of this site and see if anyone knows over there. Thanks again for everyone's input.
