Thanks for the link. I have been spending a lot of time on pinterest looking at different things. One day I searched Dahlias and came across a picture of mine that I had posted on gardenweb last year and someone had pinned. That was a surprise to me.

I tried to see that post, but they required me to sign up with Pinterest, could not continue there, You can not only visit. I hate to give my info to another place, sorry.

Pinterest is so much fun! Berndnyz it's worth signing up for. So many inspiration photos, projects, recipes, workouts, fashion, garden stuff, traveling. The list of things on there is endless. You really do start browsing and it will take you all over the place.

Many ways to use it, for personal or even marketing. I've used it mainly as a way to store ideas. When I see something on the web I like, I'll click add to pinterest. Or if I'm browsing the many boards will "pin" it to my board (category) that matches it. So gardening ideas in the garden board, crafts in a craft board. For a while I was searching for paint colors and girls bedroom ideas.

Haven't pinned anything in a while. But that gives you an idea of how you can categorize what you are searching for. Can also make the boards private if you don't want others seeing what you are "pinning". If you run a blog, DIY website or business, it's a great way to put things you do up. They get shared and it drives people to your website.

Pinterest is really fun and you could spend a lot of time just looking at beautiful pictures. I have also starting pinning pictures to my board so I can refer back to them for ideas.

Check out this awesome path design I found on Pinterest! I really want to do something like this in my new hosta garden I am planning on doing this spring.

Love that photo! I'd like to do something similar for the entrance to the kids garden. Have a few pins on how to do the pebble mosaics and it doesn't seem complicated. My problem is finding the pebbles without it costing a fortune. Here is another pattern that looks pretty neat.

Bungalow, those paths are great! I am thinking they are for warmer climates than I have, the frost heave would mess them up here.

Sherry, not giving up on my low-flo waterfall. I do have another 'mini' winter project brewing (pretty far along), but I will wait until it is finished rather than expose my helter-skelter project list / activity to any further scrutiny. :->

Linda and bungalow I did see the rock mosaics. There are butterfly and bumblebee mosaics that fascinated me on that site, and I do have a box of Mexican beach stones left over from my 350 year old; brand new bench project. I lined up some rocks into a long snake for my, my grandson's, neighbors', visitors' and whoever I can drag back there's amusement....now wouldn't a mosaic of a snake head on my 25 foot slinking stone snake be fantastic !!! (3 inches of snow, 1" predicted; then rain and now changing back to snow far earlier than predicted...so no photos)

OK, it only took me a paragraph to break my resolution to not add or disclose projects I have in my head, or in progress. No, the snake is not the project I alluded to in the first paragraph. That project will be a secret until Spring. My lips are sealed on that one. Waterboarding won't drag that out of me.

...Hypertufa pots is something else that interested me.....Hmmmmm.

I'm with berndynz and jonny - I don't get Pinterest either. I don't understand how it works and can't get past the whole "pinning" concept.

Gardenweb is good enough for me. :)

Li'le bug, I think Pinterest and Garden Web serve two different purposes. Garden Web has interaction between people with an identical interest while Pinterest gives an opportunity to simply look at things you find interesting with a very broad scope.

Myself, I have never 'pinned' anything and since it doesn't cost anything I don't see any downside to being able to simply browse photos of things that interest me.

The purpose of pinning things is just to keep them on your board so you will be able to find them again later. I have starting pinning picture of gardens that I like and may use some of the ideas when I make my new hosta garden this spring. I also pin recipes and other crafty ideas that I may want to try.

If you notice, on pictures posted here on GW there is a little red "pin it" button on the top corner of the picture. If you click on that, the picture is saved to your board on Pinterest. I have started doing that with some pictures that I love on this site. That way you don't have to try and remember what thread the picture was on if you want to see it again.

I guess the idea is similar to clipping recipes or pictures from a magazine and keeping them. And there are many different topics on Pinterest. Many of the pictures will have links that take you directly to the website, like the picture of the path I posted, you can get the instructions on how to complete the project.

It is fun and easy and highly addictive!

Unless you are looking for sophistication there are hundreds of pathways that probably look their best with defects....so don't let fear get in your way.

Those walkways with stone designs are very appealing to me. But I wonder how they keep weeds and moss out. I fight moss and grass seedlings on our brick patio, blowing out the crushed granite between bricks with my pressure washer. It seems they laid the stones into fresh concrete and must be using chemicals to keep all weeds out, probably may not pressure wash it.

Thanks Johnnyb I have looked at pinsent before but not the site you mentioned . Great pictures of great hosta gardens and paths . I also saw one from forum and Kens instructions on how to move a large leafed out hosta with rope and all. Sure beats making curtains . I use to love sewing but not so much anymore
