Depression in December

A few years ago about this time I knew I was coming down with 'flu so I dived into the off license and then the book shop before heading home to bed. I picked up two books I had always meant to read both by Camus 'The Stranger' and 'The Plague'. I spent a week in bed and the books didn't help one little bit. Today I read a review of another book I found depressing, 'The Castle' by Kafka, there is one sentence that could just as easily describe my feverish response to Camus Kafka is the syringe that draws out the reader's blood, and then the pen that writes in it.
