I have had an unusual Christmas request--biographies of saints. I don't know where to begin. I would like books that are well-researched and inspiring and relevant to our times. I don't want books with a lot of legend and romance. The person making the request is highly educated and a practicing Catholic.
I don't know where to begin. Is there a good biography of Thomas More, for instance? Or Thomas a Becket? My friend mentioned 20th century saints. How about Archbishop Romero? Or Dietrich Bonhoeffer--a Lutheran, but certainly a saint by anyone's measure.
This one has me flummoxed. Any suggestions?
