Call the Midwife - if you like Downton Abbey

I just searched my library and placed a hold on this book. Before Christmas, I picked up season one and two on DVD at the library and my family has been watching this. ( It's called Binge TV where you watch a TV series a couple of episodes at a time without commerical interruption. I am guilty of this because I hate commercials and this is a preferred method of watching quality TV, I pick the time!)
This is an excellent series, takes place in London East Side in 1957 and appears to be authentic. My daughter who is graduating as an MD this May, says that the obstetrical practices are realistic for that time. It's the story of midwives working in a convent in the poor part of London. We have had many nostagia threads on this forum and if you like this era, including music, you will definitely enjoy this series. I just love it, probably even more so than Downton Abbey and so does my husband. The characters are just wonderful, bring kleenex but it is mostly happy moments and just enjoy...even though it isn't the book version. So much on TV is dreadful right now, but this isn't.
