seasidecottage .. i love your name! Its my dream house... lol Anyway, i recently added an arbor to my yard. I bought it for 150 at lowes, and am really pleased with it. But i wish i had waited to build my own,,,so i wonder, are you handy? If you need it to be cheap you could find a woodworking plan to build your own. I found the perfect swing arbor plan for myself on amazon . Im not sure what you want planted on it, or how sturdy you need it, but ive seen an arbor made out of 3 old wooden rung ladders. So charming! Perfect for annuals. When i was searching for an arbor i looked online but decided local would be best..because shipping can get crazy and its nice to see in person the quality. Good luck!! i realize this post may be of no help..lol

What is a buckeye? A buckeye is an inedible nut which resembles the eye of a deer (or buck); thus called "buck eye". This nut develops on trees naturally grown and common in the state of Ohio. The scientific name is "Aesculus glabra" but the tree is widely known simply as the "Ohio Buckeye". It is a small, round tree. In average it grows approximately 20-30 feet in height and width. In the spring, the tree blooms yellowish flower clusters. They are typically the first trees to leaf out in the spring. Ohio Buckeye has a dense oval to round form, branching quite low. Each leaf is compounded with 5-7 leaflets that are 4-5 inches long. Foliage is medium to dark green and may develop yellow or orange fall color. Fruit is a glossy brown nut enclosed in a thick husk. Why are buckeye trees found in Ohio? The answer is in the soil and climate. Ohio Buckeyes can survive in a broad range of soil and climatic conditions. However, it performs best in moist, well drained soil. In full sun or in partial shade. Ohio's climate has perfect conditions for these trees to grow. In any climate, they are susceptibe to leaf scorch. This problem results in browning of the leaf margins beginning in mid summer. By late summer to early fall, the trees look unsightly and are often partially defoliated. At this time, the buckeye nuts naturally fall to the ground. and know you know the rest of the story. i read that book awhile back, i highly recommed it if just to compare how times have changed. i got a hoot when she refered to "her man" as in her hired man, doing all the heavy work in the garden. what i wouldn't give to have a couple of hired men to clean up my yard every spring and fall. this was a woman who took her gardens seriously. her personality comes through and you feel like you are a friend when you finish. how many of us read a garden book like i do: read a paragraph, dream a few minutes, read another half page, mentally apply it to my yard, read a chapter and have a gardening revolation, i guess thats why it takes me so long to read a good garden book

Has anyone read "Waltzing at the Piggly Wiggly" by Ron Dolby? I just ordered it for .20 on Amazon, a hardcover. He has three more Piggly Wiggly books and if I like waltzing I will order the rest. Obviously, it doesn't depend on the cost. (lol) I also ordered "She flew the Coop" and "Consuming Passions" both by Michael Lee West". I love southern novels and I see you do too Mitchdesj.
