I read #1, forced myself to the finish #2, & opted to just ask my friend how it all turned out in #3. I've never read a Harlequin book so maybe this is customary.... but the part I find disconcerting about the 50's books is this: If Christian Grey were of mediocre looks, poor to average income, we would label him as a pervert & a stalker, a man with huge control issues (not just in the sexual realm), misogynistic, very jealous, & deeply scarred emotionally. The story line jumped the shark for me when he got away with really invading her privacy & stalking behaviors. We would tell our dtrs, grand-dtrs, sisters, nieces to RUN from a man like this. But .... NO.... this man is drop dead gorgeous & has a BAZILLION $$$$$'s. Therefore, anything can be overlooked. I know the story line is a flight of fancy, but I'm not sure that culturally, we don't also buy into this type of excusing the behavior because of looks/money. How could an educated, smart woman, a virgin, who was so very unaware of her own physical beauty, seemingly with near zero sex drive prior to meeting/doing Christian zip right to nymphomania & buy into dangerous sex games with basically a stranger ... all in the blink of an eye? The implausibility of the story line was a turn off to me... even aside from the multi-orgasmic repetitiousness of ALLLLLL that sex...... No, I don't get the fascination with the "50's"...

I can't believe you posted this! I was just at the BM store looking at all their sample chips of grays and thinking talk about 50 shades of gray!!! I haven't read the book and do not plan on it but to go along with the other thread I did see it at Costco ; ) On another note, I can't keep buying these samples that look absolutely NOTHING like the chip. I'm getting frustrated with these paint decks that have no resemblance to the actual paint. At this rate I will have 50 sample cans of gray, lol. I hate spending money on them but this will be the third time I have painted this room, boo hoo.

I read early reviews and sort of dismissed the thought of reading the book. Then, DD read it....was sort of ?intrigued by the story and so it sits here on the table. You all have confirmed my first impression...not worth my time. I so enjoy reading and am so "determined" when I start a somewhat bad book to finish it (as my current read) that I would not want to entertain the idea of reading Fifty Shades.

Weathered Wood roofs look very nice with greige/taupe colors. Don't go too grey, instead lean a little more to the khaki side of green/gray by incorporating more brown in the color. Take a look at Sag Harbor gray HC-95 or Clarksville gray HC-102. When you try a swatch on the house paint it high enough to see with the roof color. Don't worry about the center color of the painted brick until you settle on the main color. Just some ideas, hope it helps. Very nice house and beautiful yard!
