Today I started this book by Kim Vogel Sawyer..... Mama goose, My daughter and I talked about the dishwasher location and I told her that most people on Gardenweb favor that the dishwasher not be located in the prep area between the range and sink. I think if her kitchen was larger, she might agree. She is used to prepping over the dishwasher and would rather have the dishwasher closer to where she stores the dishes. We'll have to look at the space between the window and fridge and see if she has room to store her dishes to the left of the window. Then she could put her dishwasher on the left and her dishes would be closer to the breakfast room. I think she night have room for an upper 18 inch cabinet (she has a 10 inch upper cab now!) and a lower 24 inch set of drawers. That might hold her dishes and glasses. Will she feel too close to the range if she moves the sink closer to the range? What's the recommended distance between range and sink? Her prep area will be smaller, but then two people could prep on either side of the sink if she did move the dishwasher to the left of the sink. In a small kitchen would you put a trash recycle bin in the 24 inch space near the upper blind corner cabinet ( in her prep area) or put a small trash pull out under the sink? If she does do the dishwasher to the right of the sink, the trash might fit nicely between the sink and fridge and would not be in the prep zone. Plimpset, She is definitely going to do a counter depth fridge and would really like a built in or an integrated fridge. I find the microwave location awkward too. Your idea would be good. Unfortunately she does not want it on her counter. She hates to loose any cabinet space near the range end of the kitchen. Actually, her microwave has been broken for the last year and they have not even replaced it. That shows how little she values it. If she does a small cabinet 15 to 18 inches deep by 27-30 inches wide on the wall, (not a cart), she could put a microwave there with a pull out shelf underneath.

I'm not sure what the prices will be like this year. I've always found them very reasonable. $5-7 per plant. What is most notable about them is the HUGE variety of tomatoes and they are all in fantastic condition grown in organic planting medium. If you've enjoyed getting your plants from Burkhard's in the past you will love Tomatomania. Plus there are a lot of very knowledgeable people to advise on the right varieties for your growing goals. I've never worked with them before, but I'm looking forward to it.
