Speaking of 'Humane' I need some advice
Comments (8)Sheila, I'm so sorry! Your chicken reminds me of my little Troy that recently got killed by a raccoon. Do you remember Troy? I know I've written about her tons of times, but don't know if you ever read about her. She had trouble getting around her whole life. I had to carry food to her each day. I always kept water available, but fed her several times a day. I had her for 4 years until the coon killed her. I miss her every day. You are the only one who really knows the right thing to do and if your little girl is in too much pain to have to keep going on. But if you'd like my opinion--I'd probably try keeping her. If she's different from the rest of the flock it won't matter as long as she's not hurting and in pain. You must really love your animals a lot too :) LittleDog : if she is a hen, the rooster will be on her constantly, as from his POV she is in that submissive posture a hen takes for the rooster to breed. (What you said could be true, but just because she's lower to the ground/etc doesn't necessarily mean that the males will bother her. I had a duck (I mentioned above) and she had problems getting around. For some reason none of my boys ever bothered her at all. I think they could sense something was wrong with her and that she was different....See MoreNeed Some help in Houston
Comments (3)Hey there. I will try to field this one.... It's great that you have seeds coming; plant them. In my opinion, it is never too late to start. I don't know if you will have ripe peppers in a few months like those who started seed in January and grew them under lights indoors, but at some point, you will have peppers, so I say plant them. Soak your seeds in separate shot glasses of water overnight to soften the casing a bit. Then, I would fill some small cups with a pre-moistened medium like Miracle Grow seed starting mix about 2/3 of the way and put three or four seeds (spaced apart a bit) onto the soil and then cover with 1/4" more pre-moistened soil. Seeds need warmth to germinate, so outside in the sun or inside in a warm area like laundry room or on top of a warm TV or DVD player. Or, put the cups on a heating pad on medium heat 24/7 until they germinate and sprout. Grow them in a south facing window once they have sprouted. Water sparingly and don't let water accumulate in the bottom of your cups. This should be enough to get you started and by the time they are young plants, you will have read enough on this forum to continue growing....See MoreIn need of some help.
Comments (4)I don't think the OP is suggesting punishment, but a big red flag for me is where she says, "he does not understand why I get so frustrated and i don't understand why he can't understand where i am coming from." She also says that BF has "had many talks" with his son. Clearly the "talks" are not having any effect- BF has not communicated well to his son that his behaviour is not acceptable. If BF was serious about it he would be having a serious talk with BM and laying down the law with his son, but he's not doing either. I suspect nothing will happen to curb BM's using her child to get at who she perceives as her rival and things will be the same as or worse the longer this relationship continues. Comments (5)Sofia Do not leave it in the sun; it would be better to put it in shade or indoors while drying up. As Christopher said, remove soft & mushy leaves - in first photo there is lots of yellow at the base of leaves - I would say that they are soft/mushy, that should be all cleaned off. But even without looking - if you smell anything bad as you said, there must be lots of rotting there. Rot spreads fast into remaining parts....See Moremsmeow
