OT UK freak weather conditions

Here in UK, weather conditions have been appalling for weeks: almost constant rain, mostly heavy, causing serious flooding in many places. Hereford, Shropshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, to name but a few places in England are in pretty dire straits. Tewkesbury is mostly under water and drinking-water supplies have been contaminated by rainwater which is causing further problems. Here, in Wales, there have been some problems - like, on Friday, trains from Paddington, London, stopped at Didcot because there was no way of continuing their journey west into Wales or the west of England. The motorway from Bristol to Birmingham (M5) was under water in parts and many people spent hours stuck in traffic jams, unable to get anywhere at all.

Here, in West Wales (Pontardawe, Swansea) we have been OK so far; though some parts of Neath have been flooded. We hope and pray, all over the country, that the drainage and sewage systems will hold out for the rainfall which is forecast to fall from now to probably the end of August.

How are all you other Brits (I hate that term, but what else is there to cover English, Scots, Welsh and N. Irish) out there? Anyanka is in Surrey; Vee is overlooking the Severn estuary - and the Severn is flooding or about to flood; Rouen? Let us know what's happening to you.

All best wishes,

Dido
