Saw this on a blog - Laurie Harper's "Author Biz Sense" and thought it looked like a perfect place to read.

Not sure this idea would work for you, but I have long thought it would be so cool to have a combination dining area / library. By adding a floor-to-ceiling bookcase on the wall opposite your fireplace, it looks like you could achieve this, if it's something you might find useful. I can envision having meals there, sitting and reading, or working on a laptop, doing homework, etc. Below are a few inspiration pics.

Blue would be nice with the wood tone and rust chair. Bring home lots of paint chips though with different undertones. https://www.charlestoncrafted.com/blue-gray-paint-colors/ Be sure to layer the bedding and aim for a simple classic look but with lovely cushions The wall sconces are not large enough or in the right location. I’d repair wall before painting and add lamps on the nightstands to create more interest as well as better balance and proportion. Regarding sitting area, it’s too lined up. Place chair on an angle (opposite to below) and create a sort of corner vignette. The painting is not working and use a smaller/lighter piece to the right of the chair, so it relates the the seating - per below. Also suggest rearranging the shelving to better compliment room and reading area - could be really attractive

Do you have a decent sized foyer? I think that rug and table might be happier as a focal point there.The table is too tall for the chairs and will make a table lamp too tall for a good reader. I would prefer a rectangular rug so the leggy chairs could sit entirely on it and be grounded. I'd remove the more casual tab top curtains. They're a bit bedroomy for this space. Add pair of reading floor lamps in brass right and left of the the chairs. Here are a couple of styles. Put your plant stand and a maidenhair fern between the two chairs.

I already have 2 end tables on each side of the room. These tables come handy for putting my computer on them, a phone, etc. I don’t have a sofa yet but I contemplating re-designing my reading and study nook. To lounge is to be a bit more sleepy and I need to be alert for my language study and writing projects.

The loft room trumped the fact that there is no dishwasher in the house. They had to make their quick decision about where to rent-they had three days in Oregon to find a house before they flew back to MD to pack up the household goods and start driving west!

Beautiful! How great they found such a place! Years ago I saw one of those home design shows where a room gets redone in a weekend - one of them featured a Moroccan-theme. I have always remembered it as I thought it was wonderful.

Someday I will take a pic of my new reading windowseat, but as I don't have a camera, that won't be any time soon.
