HELP! 5 Foot Wide, 11 Foot Long Dining Room & Reading Nook?
Comments (22)I think your best bet would be a very narrow table against the wall, with a couple of chairs. I’d do some searches like ‘eating table small room’ ... ‘eating area small apartment’ ... etc. Apartment Therapy might have some helpful articles, too. I like your thinking ... wanting to turn a challenging space into something usable. My first apartment was a “studio apartment” — I had only a tiny corner in the living room for an eating area. No window, just looking at an ugly wall. I think it could be a nice, charming space. And yes, I think a bistro set would work fine, too. Once you get whatever you decide, then see how/where a reading chair might fit in....See Moremaster bedroom needs color and reading nook help
Comments (6)Blue would be nice with the wood tone and rust chair. Bring home lots of paint chips though with different undertones. https://www.charlestoncrafted.com/blue-gray-paint-colors/ Be sure to layer the bedding and aim for a simple classic look but with lovely cushions The wall sconces are not large enough or in the right location. I’d repair wall before painting and add lamps on the nightstands to create more interest as well as better balance and proportion. Regarding sitting area, it’s too lined up. Place chair on an angle (opposite to below) and create a sort of corner vignette. The painting is not working and use a smaller/lighter piece to the right of the chair, so it relates the the seating - per below. Also suggest rearranging the shelving to better compliment room and reading area - could be really attractive...See MoreReading nook ottoman advice
Comments (20)Do you have a decent sized foyer? I think that rug and table might be happier as a focal point there. The table is too tall for the chairs and will make a table lamp too tall for a good reader. I would prefer a rectangular rug so the leggy chairs could sit entirely on it and be grounded. I'd remove the more casual tab top curtains. They're a bit bedroomy for this space. Add pair of reading floor lamps in brass right and left of the the chairs. Here are a couple of styles. Put your plant stand and a maidenhair fern between the two chairs....See MoreReading nook for awkward window/pole corner?
Comments (25)I remember tie dye. I try to forget it, along with bleeding madras.I'm ALWAYS trying to forget anything that smacks of Mission.............I detest. Talk about an unforgiving look of "pain" seating I even remember Nehru jackets..............and can we not go there?!.....Or to Lee Scwartz, my first real date and his was screaming yellow. WAH....See MoreTBL from CT
