Castle

I was thinking of re-reading Kafka's Castle.

About 5 years ago, I mustered the courage to pick up this opus. I knew that this is an unfinished work - if open endings are not troublesome enough, this novel achieves this distinction in a literal sense. But soon enough, I was drawn into the labyrinth of the Castle. The bleakness of our everyday existence, the struggle to attain something unspecific, the burning desire to get accepted, the questionable motives behind this desire, the frustrating impossibility of absolution - all borne out of low self exteem .. fascinates me to this day. It is not for nothing that the novel remained unfinished.

I identify with K. The novel depresses and yet alleviates. Anyone else who's read and felt touched/enraged/... am certain no one would be unaffected!
