certainteed castle stone siding? help cannot choose a color!

Hi, has anyone used certainteed castle stone siding and shake on their home? I cannot find photos of this color. Here is our home we are building. Thank you!

Where are you in the process? Already under construction?

Is this a custom home designed for you on a lot you own where you may change anything?

And a Google search will find plenty of images.

Whew...finally figured it out. Both the old pic and the new pic had the same filename. @@ I moved the crepe myrtle over a bit so you can see more of the left side. I imagine your stone will be a bit darker than it came out in the virtual but it's hard to say. Have you seen this stone on a house? When we were searching for stone, I really found the sample boards to be way off and we had to actually see it up on a house to get a true picture of it.

What color is your door going to be? Also are you doing stark white windows? BTW: In the elevation drawing I agree with you that horizontal looks better. The problem is it's hard to match a red brick color.

Stone was a foundation material, before we had concrete. When using stone as a decorative element, it is best to use it near the foundation, so it looks authentic and useful - and put it all around the house. Back when stone was used as a building material, it would never be put on one wall, as you've shown. The only time stone would climb up off the foundation is when it was used as fireplace/chimney. That's why folks are objecting to a small wall of stone - and "peel and stick" refers to the fact that it is clearly for show, not structural. 4 exterior materials is 2 too many. The facade looks busy and disjointed - rather than a uniform siding type to bring the elements together, the various materials make the house look like different structures, plopped next to each other.

I didn't the rule about "smooth unless it's a mountain house", so I'm glad you told me. Would you do with the smooth plank with a bead, or without? The company whose truck took out our powerline just happens to be a large building supply company in the area, and it sounds like they will be paying for the upgrade in an effort to "make things right". They have 8.25" in stock for any of the options (smooth, woodgrain, beaded, unbeaded)—does that size sound right to you? With respect to the brick, we could certainly either repaint it or remove the paint and do more of a "wash" on it—if that's even an option. You had suggested buff or olive in my previous post, so I'm curious to know whether you would paint the siding and brick the same color or not Appreciate all your help!

We are waiting on permits to break ground. Yes it is a custom home on a lot where I can change anything.

I did a lot of google searches, Pinterest, instagram, Houzz etc. and it’s really hard to get images with that castlestone color to come up. Charcoal gray seems to be the big color with certainteed that I keep coming across.

All these windows are the same width. Note the difference in the shape of the panes in the upper sash. Generally they look best square, or a rectangle that is taller than it is wide.

The window on the left looks compressed.

Note all the differences in how returns are handled. Suggest some continuity would be best.

1. The google results you and I got aren’t really accurate. For example, one of those homes is espresso I believe but the article it links to mentions castle stone. Also there are quite a few builders and stone companies that use castle stone as their name so it gets mixed into the results. I was really hoping someone on here used on their own home or project so I could get an accurate photo.
2. I was not happy with the design company, I noticed that on the windows too. But I was hoping they just plugged something in there and then when I meet with the window people I can choose the real style.
3. For the returns, I’m wondering if it’s the same as the window situation, not a 100% realistic view. Thinking the custom builder must use his own style on the returns?
I’m a first timer here, I’ve never built a home so I’m not really sure of the entire process!
