Happy June everyone! I hope that everyone has a wonderful June filled with many days and night of great books. What book finds you on this first day of June? I just started a non-fiction book by Loung Ung called First They Kill My Father. I know it's rather a daunting title, but it is quite an interesting read so far. Even though I've made progress in my TBR pile, I still have a few more to go...so many books, so little time! But, I look forward to enjoying a summer full of books.

I've just finished 2 novels: Anita Shreve's "A Wedding in December" and Rose Tremain's "Music and Silence."

Shreve's book is better, IMO, than most of her others, a story within a story, about a reunion of high school classmates in a country inn in New England.

I really liked Tremain's book and wonder what I ought to read next by this fine author (?). While I enjoy Sarah Dunant and Gwendolyn Brooks' work, I feel both could benefit from writing lessons from Tremain! I savored this novel very slowly, loving the character development and descriptions of Denmark and England. Excellent historical detail, too, although she has no index, nor any "notes" about her research.

marciab10, we just got back our 2nd round of comments this afternoon, all from the Building Dept. (Engineering? PASSED! Planning? PASSED!) There are 26 comments to address and unfortunately, a lot of those comments are simple things that were overlooked due to the fact that our designer does not seem to be very detail-oriented and he did not properly address them the first time. I'm going to vent a little here and just say that he better not take 4 WEEKS to get these comments addressed like he just did this last time...or else...well, I don't want to go there yet. ANYWAY, on to happy thoughts...happykate, thank you and just looking at your view again somehow seemed to calm me instantly! :) sandyponder, I love your window color! They look very similar to the one I picked out called "ICI Brown" by Sierra Pacific Windows. I think ours will have more of a brown tone, but they look a lot alike otherwise. nhkate, I can almost smell the nature just by looking at your wonderful view! Thanks for posting those photos and I can totally understand how they really don't the "real thing" justice...but I enjoyed them anyway!

oldcrafty - I did a forum search on "change grout color" and found a number of threads on the subject. Some of them are helpful and I've attached one here. If you read through the attached thread there is a post on using watered down acrylic paint to stain the grout. Got my apple pie done last night and will be doing the pumpkin (made from real pumpkin, not canned) pie soon. Then fire up the charcoal grill and get out the rotisserie, slap the bird on and let it cook. We discovered this way years ago, and George and I continue to do it unless we're invited out. Comes out nice and juicy and frees up the oven for other things. Among my blessings, I count you folks here on KT as one of them. Happy Turkey Day all.
