Four days of pageants, bonfires, beacons, street parties, picnics, huge pop concert, a Thames flotilla, processions, a service of Thanksgiving, flag waving, choirs, military bands, Irish Guards feu de joie and lots and lots of cold and rain.
Were we down-hearted? Not a bit of it.
We, in the United Kingdom might not be able to do much right in this 'modern' world, but I think we can still put on a good show.
Did our Commonwealth, European or US friends catch any of the atmosphere?
And it all costs much less than maintaining a presidential system ;-)
