Help--anyone remember a read-alike site?

I hope someone remembers this. Does anyone recall a "read-alike" website where one entered either a book title or author and the results were displayed in a spiderweb type of arrangement with the books or authors most similar to the original displayed closest to the center and less similar titles/names at the outer edge of the array? And am I making any sense at all?

I tried searching this forum to find a reference to this website but can't find anything. I'm pretty sure somebody at some point posted about it here.

My library website has something like what you describe. They have a link to Novelist, which does bring up a link to similar authors,books etc to whatever title,author you have entered. Your local library system is likely to offer the same thing. All I did was type in the title of a book and click on the summary. When that came up, a link to Novelist also came up.

Also, if you search amazon.com, you'll get a result page which shows what other customers purchased along with the book title you've just typed in. Frequently, those books are similar in nature to the one just looked at.

The site I remember is the Literature Map. You type in an author's name and the "map" comes up with various authors which are similar in style, setting, genre, to the one you entered. The closer an author's name is to the name you entered, the closer they are in one of the above stated areas. I've posted the link below.

Bad spelling doesn't irritate me, it just stands out visually. I'm terrible at math but good with spelling. I get numbers wrong in ways that are embarrassing. Things like writing the wrong year on a check which I do all the time or leaving out zeros when talking about square feet or amounts of money when I get the numbers not just wrong but drastically wrong. I don't usually remember numbers like phone numbers etc. because I can't seem to keep numbers in my head but a word that is spelled wrong almost always jumps off the page. I don't consider using botanical names as necessarily pretentious but I don't feel the need to memorize them and I do find the common names more interesting personally speaking. Actually, when talking to most people about plants, the common name is more often than not better for conversational purposes unless the other person is a plant geek or asks for a name because they want to get the plant, then its appropriate to be specific and if necessary, look it up. I mean, if someone came to casually look at my garden and was asking what this plant is or that plant is I do think it would sound grossly pretentious to start spouting off a lot of long winded botanical names which would leave most people not knowing anymore than they did before they asked and probably they'd wish they'd never asked in the first place. Thank you so much for the advice! How did it work out for u having the nursery? And how come u no longer do? If u don't mind my asking. I would love to get this yard covered in roses and eventually propagate n sell some for fun. I don't want it to be so consuming it becomes a chore. I want my own green house so bad!! My neighbors are starting a community farm and they're putting up huge green houses right now so they can grow veggies. It's some kind of program where u pay weekly, monthly or yearly and get a variety of fresh picked organic veggies n eggs or meat but they're not doing the eggs n meat. What's crazy is neither of them know anything ab growing food or plants so they're working with a company to teach them the ropes. I'm so jealous of all that green house they have now ! ..it's huge!! But empty, I sure could see my roses in there :) thank you so much for the info! I only have 3 acres but I'm turning it into a small ranch ( I have some farm animals) with huge rose gardens & I will eventually post s thread for help for a nice catchy name for this ranch. Any ideas? I do have 4 boys and I want a name that has rose in it but I'm not sure yet what to name it. Well get a new gate with a nice sign above with the name eventually . I'm super excited!!

I am just finishing up Bernard Cornwall's "War of the Wolf." The author is an historian and his excellent research shows in the detail. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get an idea of how "England" actually began. It is set in the time just after Alfred the Great, when warring kingdoms (Mercia, Wessex, Northumberland, etc.) vied for power in a land invaded by Danes, Saxons, Vikings, and Scots. King Alfred's dream was to unite the island under one language and one government. This book tells of the lengthy struggle that went into that effort, after much warfare. I usually would not choose to read books dealing with war, but I have an interest in Britain before the Norman invasion and this was satisfying to read, in all its complexity.

My only memory of living in a different county to the one I grew up in was of falling through some greenery/hedging and looking out onto a playing field. I just remember how huge and scary it looked. I would have been 2 or 3. After we’d moved, my most vivid initial memories are of a sitting in the middle of the school playground crying because I didn’t know which door to go through and Mrs Goddard (a nice teacher) came and picked me up. Similar time line was noticing Nicholas Fletcher, and his freckles. Then accidentally tearing my pink frilly party dress (which I didn’t really like anyway) at Nicholas Fletcher’s birthday party. Lastly and by no means least, my Uncle Keith’s blue bubble car, which had one door that lifted up at the front instead of out to the side.

PAM, thank you!!!! Literature map is exactly what I remembered.

Rouan, thanks for your hint. I work in a library, and do use Novelist but wanted Literature Map to use as one more tool in my arsenal.

I need to take a closer look at the "Map" as I'm not sure if the array of names is arranged by how similar the authors' works are or if the name position is determined by a sort of "people who've read this author have also read..." scale.

Superlit web site - used with discernment I know I'm going to enjoy.
I entered my 3 favourite authors and the reponse for their 'commonality' offered me Chehkov - ANd he is the writer I had already chosen for next years lit.study - I am impressed
