Thanks, bostedo. After ragna's comment, I started to wonder where this photo limit is stated. And realizing file size might be an issue, I usually grab screenshots of my larger images. I just don't want to annoy everyone with a notification every time I post a separate pic. I'll try again: will limit to four pics and see if that works. Yup, Omar warned me about the P. caerulea. :) Here pictured with a little ol' bat face cuphea I purchased as a 4" plant last year -- I've since taken cuttings and have 8-10 more in the front yard, HOA be darned. I ended up removing the esperanza, which reliably ended up with very bad rust issues over the past few years. I've planted a wafer ash (started from seeds) in its place, and it's doing very well so far. I didn't get too much traffic on the blue porterweed, but the hummingbirds and butterflies went to town on my red porterweed: And my A. elegans (host to pipevine swallowtails) really took off starting last autumn, after spending most of the year as a spindly, 2' long, sparsely-leafed vine.

It's gorgeous here! A cold front did come through last night, but tomorrow it will again be in the high 70's. It's all coming at the same time this year, due to being unseasonably warm. The lilacs, redbud AND the dogwood are all blooming and the azaleas are ready to pop. Lily of the Valley pips are up and beginning to open. It's glorious but I prefer a longer, slower coming of blossoms. It will be summer by Derby time, not spring, and that's a bit too early for me. I especially love the native redbud that grows in among the "junk" shrubs and trees along roads. SO pretty to see that lovely burst of color. The trees are leafing out quite quickly as well. It will be a very pretty Easter Sunday this year.

How pretty everyone's blooms are! My chickasaw plum already finished blooming, and my macadamia tree did as well. Wild ageratum/blue mistflower has been blooming for weeks and I just love the scent. Bees and butterflies appreciate them too. Duranta is flowering a lot now and the butterflies also like that. I have a red ground orchid that's blooming and another purple phalaenopsis is budding. Some walking iris just finished too. My bok choy, wild arugula and some lettuces are bolting as well. Our neighbor has an enormous kapok tree covered with huge red blossoms - a lovely sight, but they will soon become seedpods full of cottony fluff that drifts around like snow and covers everything with filaments, and spreads seeds to sprout everywhere too - not so lovely. No good photos, sadly...
