Love those plates - so many possibilities - that little dog planter is so cute. I find myself going into DT and envisioning all the clear glass as repurposed pieces and stacked on each other - it is a sickness I tell ya - lol I know the sales people must think I am nuts turning a glass/vase upside down and sitting something on top and staring at it. I don’t know how to take your plan and add furniture to it 🙃... so I will just explain how I would place your sectional. I would float the sectional where the back of one side of sectional is to dining room and the back of other side, is to the kitchen. That way your window and fireplace are the view from sitting on sofa. I think this would be an ideal set up for your space. You could still add a chair in the corner between window and FP, or place an additional chair directly in front of window, without obstructing a lot of your light. It’s a great open floor plan, congratulations on your new home.

This is a really lovely house.... so many other houses that appear on here are just utter mishmashes, burying whatever original design there was beneath countless additions and tweaks that turn it into a McMansion. This house on the other hand, while huge, looks intentional and simple and deeply classy. Well, except for the garage. If you truly need three car garage, the go for it, but the massing there is a LOT. And I guess I just don’t understand building a house from the ground up and having a huge chunk of the house unfinished. To each their own, of course, but I would think either you need the space or you don’t, and if you don’t, why increase your budget so much for something you don’t need?

It looks like you have enough room to pull the sectional toward the fireplace quite a bit. Even though that doesn't give you more floor space in the dining room, it would give the table and chairs more breathing room without being so close to the back of the sofa. A sleeker table and chairs, as posted by Patricia, would also make the space seem more spacious. Instead of a matching console or china cabinet, I'd think about either a color or something to match the wall color (or just light, like the walls). If you do a large piece like you have now, I'd do light. A long, low console could be any color, but with the wood floors and similarly colored tile, a contrasting color might be nice. If you did a lower console or buffet where the china cabinet is now with a large piece of art over it, in the view from the area of the green chairs that doorway to the kitchen would frame the view to the art instead of the wood cabinet you see now. It's a pretty home!
