Condensation in my shed

I have started to get condensation in my shed and cannot for the life of me prevent it. I am worried that it will damage my shed does anybody know how to prevent this from happening?

I'll have to guess a lot here!

If this is a new shed - is it made of aluminium or galvanised sheeting; and, is it insulated and lined, particularly in the roof? Has it got a new concrete floor that's still curing? Have you arranged for the stormwater/run-off from the roof to go into a butt or soak pit or catchment system away from the building?

Is there something 'breathing' in there - such as foliage drying off or a crop in to over-winter?

Is it attached to a glasshouse that's watered/misted?

Have you any moving air passing through the shed to help move the excess moisture away? Or have you got some sort of air intake system that's bringing in warm air - that hits a colder surface and makes those wretched beads of moisture?

Have you got any sort of passive capture system? - one that uses silica crystals and a water-catcher bowl, for example. Often used in spare rooms and wardrobes to eliminate damp/mildew. (No power needed.)

If it's just the windows - could you use something like ag-fleece, or plastic film (such as you'd use on a tunnel house) to create a cheap version of double glazing?

One thing insulation will help with is moisture condensation. My shed is insulated in the roof only and has a ridge vent, and some mornings the entire inside (including all tools) is wet. We do have high humidity here.

" Refrigeration oil appearing repeatedly on the cap would be a good sign there is a leak. You would need a refrigerant sniffer to detect the coolant, but the oil sticks around. A lot of refrigerant has usually leaked if there is a change in capacity.

Excessive condensation produced by my gas furnace

No one can tell if this is excessive unless the capacity of the furnace is known and the fuel use is known. You can judge how much fuel is being used by observation of your gas meter or how much the furnace is actually running and knowing the capacity. Honestly, a gallon or more a day does not seem like very much to me. Is this a lot more than last heating season?

Can I use the Condensation Pump to move water from my Washer up?

You can put in a sealed pit with a sewage pump which is expensive but if you want a bathroom in the basement someday it is a good first step. You can do an unsealed pit with a sump pump and run it that way as well again though you need to install a pit. Or you can do what I have seen in many homes which is run the washing machine into the existing sump pump and the route the sump pump into the sewer. If you do it this way make sure to put isolation valves in so when you aren't doing laundry you can turn the sump back outside otherwise in many locations it is illegal.
