2009 International Seed Swap

I'm ready to go with this year's International Seed Swap! Details of how to join in are on the link.

Whilst I'm hoping many of our usual participants will take part again this year, we're always looking for new gardeners to join in to give us an even bigger range of seeds to share out.

If you haven't joined in before, why not give it a go this year? At least you'll get different seeds in exchange for yours, and one of them might be something you've been looking for.

We already have over 400 packets of seeds in the kitty to share out this year. There's a list of some of them on the link.

If these sound interesting to you, why not join us?

I'm hoping the postal strike won't affect us too much, but I already have seeds on the way from several countries, so I may have to extend the deadline for receiving seeds until they get here - which gives everyone here in the UK plenty of time to get their seeds packed and posted!

Thanks, Sandy. I'm still not quite sure. I'll make it a point to notice if there are seeds all along the stems once they're growing this year and to that point. I'm really not sure if the plants are false nettle because I never looked at them real closely. I know they get little white, barely noticeable flowers on it and they seem to be in the same arrangement as the ones in the picture. Do you happen to know if any other plant has a similar makeup? I think the plants that I have come up here every year have fairly shiny leaves, and I don't think the plant gets as high as 2 feet but I'd say one for sure. One thing I noticed about the plant is that it is extremely easy to pull out of the ground. I used to pull them out before I suspected that they might be false nettle, but they might not even be that. Oh, I just thought of another characteristic. Does the plant have kind of a sticky feel? These that I have do. If those things I mentioned don't describe false nettle, then I guess that would explain why I don't see Red Admirals here (only once in the past 3 years), and I've never noticed cats on the plants, but then again, I didn't look that closely. Tammy, I sent you some double gloriosa daisy seeds too. I think I killed the 2 plants I dug for the NO LIMIT SWAP or I would have sent it this time. I was thinking the other day about when Brooke will have to go to school. I've got to admit I got a little misty eyed just thinking about it:( Dan, I can't wait to get all new plants. YEAH! Seeds received...! Alana, I just gotta say "WOW!!" Thank you *so VERY much* for *hosting* and coordinating this, as well as for paying particular attention to participant's prefered wants, etc.! Major thanks, also, to *ALL* of you extremely generous contributors! What a WONDERFUL, *FUN* experience this RR seed swap has been,...my first, but certainly not my last!
