Annoying, unusual word appears much too frequently.

I am reading To Darkness and to Death, the third in the Clair Fergusson series by Julia Spencer-Fleming. Much of the story takes place in a vast, privately owned wooded estate in the Adirondacks. The family home is a huge "cabin" called Haudenosaunee and that is the only name for the area and the home. That strange name appears on almost every page and it interferes with my concentration every time I struggle to pronounce it. I am annoyed because I can't remember the pronunciation I have decided upon and I sound the name out each time I encounter it. I recall my mother once told me that if she came upon a frequent foreign name for which she wasn't sure of the pronunciation, she made up a convenient name and inserted it every time the unusual name appeared. I can't do that; I absolutely have to say the word correctly to myself.

I am curious to know if any others on this list have difficulty with a word that is so strange it jumps from the page at each sighting.
