that may be so, cider apples are welcomed. i want more just to grow them to fruiting. i have made contact with Mr. Hauser and its just the matter of funds.... maybe next year if all goes well..... update on my plants is as follows as can be seen in the pic the seedlings have grown many feathered branches....i neglected them a bit and fell out of the routine care schedule. the heat and pest pressure from aphids brought about stress and this is the result ( my unprofessional opinion). they are in plastic pots outdoors in full sun, i now water them every other day and fertilize every Tuesday with a liquid fertilizer.planing on starting a compost tea treatment between fertilization. i am going to leave the feathered branches on as i don't plan on doing any pruning until after the first fruit set.

LEDs are the future for growing, this is a good way to reduce wattage cost as well as keep those plants healthy, I would not recommend suddenly switching from normal day light to LED right away, gradually bring it closer to the light source as this may shock the plant if done right away. The growth will not be explosive but it will be a bit noticeable.

I've never seen root rot on a jaboticaba. Mine, which are in ground of course, are in the lowest point in my entire property. There have been some multi-day rain events that have left standing water in this area for a full 10 days without any root issues. During dry season, I'll let the hose run completely flooding the area. That doesn't leave any standing water for more than a day, but I usually have to do it a day or two in a row before flowering commences. Good luck. Harry

Stephen...Well that's correct, low light plants placed close to lights. If I put the african violets outside, they would be dead within the week-too hot, too cold, too many bugs, too sunny, not enough sun. I don't know how they ever survived outside. And they are an enjoyment to me at night or when it's too hot out or too cold, I have plants to look at and they require less light than some of the orchids that people grow inside under lights. Daniella I have them on wicks-a piece of acrylic yarn that is wound around the bottom of the plant pot and hangs into a salad container of rain water or purified water with a small dose of fertilizer. So they are relatively low maintenance. I'm sorry you're allergic, they looked so nice I had to take they're picture. They're cute, the little fussy baxters.
