I just KNOW you guys must have discussed the Left Behind series but a search for "LaHaye" and "Left Behind" yielded nothing.

How on earth does the search engine work on this site. I can never find anything!

try googling "SEARCHWORD site:http://glyphs.gardenweb.com/forums/paradise"; using LeHaye in place of SEARCHWORD.

But it will get you nothing. Any discussion of the series was so long ago it has fallen off the edge of the cyberverse. Until iVillage bought the site, only 10 pages of threads were kept.

I have done a google search for an old thread on some of the garden forums before. It only works after a certain amount of time.
I've heard several of you mention that you 'archived' a thread. I am not great with computers, so I am not exactly sure what this means. The only way I can think to do this would be to 'copy/paste' the entire thread to a Word Doc. to be saved on your own computer. Yes?

Thank you for that link. That feature does work for me too, but I still can't search thru current postings on the Exchange forums. That's what I'm primarily interested in searching. Thanks to mrbrownthumb, I posted a request to fix the Search function in the Suggestions forum. Here is a link that might be useful: My posting in the suggestions forum.

Hi Melle - The member names that end with _gw are because the GW member name was already in use on Houzz. It could be the same member who might have an account already on Houzz or the name was already taken. The good news is that even if you can't claim your original name, you can still have it display on your posts by going into your profile settings (top right corner of the page - click on 'Your Houzz') and scroll down to 'Display Information'. Search can be found at the top of the page. Hi Maddie -- If you look towards the top of the page, just above the title of the post, you'll see a breadcrumb trail in green. If you click 'Home Decorating' it will bring up the list of posts in the forum.

I think you can search just the forum you're reading in, if you notice and select the drop down choice in the gray box that appears while you're typing. Or, it seems to work for me that way. For example, I'm reading in Kitchens, and I type "week" in the search box. While I'm typing it, a drop down box appears right under the search box, giving me the options to search in Kitchens, or Advice, Photos, Find a Pro, etc. When I search for "week" just in the Kitchens forum, I get a pretty clean list of your good threads, CEFreeman. Dunno if this helps?

There IS still a way to search just your individual forum! Somebody figured it out several days ago on RMG! Go to the search box on top and type in what you want to search for--a drop down menu will show up with several options for what you want to search. I'm not sure if it's always the first option (for me it has been), but look for the option that has your search words and (in this case) "vegetable gardening" after them, then click on that option and it will search only this forum. I just tried it with "carrots," and it worked! The drop down menu works on Firefox and on Safari IF you have Java enabled. Not sure about other browsers, but I assume it works in any of them as long as Java is enabled. Happy searching, Skybird - from Rocky Mountain Gardening!

Try "File", "Save As" right from your browser. The search engine used for this site stinks. No doubt.

to be honest, I don't think we ever discussed those books on their own-I remember them coming up in other, more general threads-but not as a main topic.
