Nothing to read!

I'm having to take it easy - asthma/bronchitis and powerful medication have kept me occasionally bedridden but definitely indoors for a few days.

I must have over a thousand books dotted all around the house but I cant find anything to read.

I have just reread 'Kipps' - what a fantastic novel that is - I think Wells doesn't get enough recognition - and I've reread 'Perfume' another gripping novel entirely different. I read 3 packed newspapers on Saturday and another 3 on Sunday - from back to front.

I can NEVER find anything readable now in the library so my 8 chosen books early last week have been glanced at and rejected out of hand (this happens almost every week).

Whatever I read has to grip me from the first page, the way I'm feeling just now, so my super non-fiction and reference books cant tempt me.

Most of the other novels I've read or reread in the last few months - the paucity of contemporary fiction drives me to it - so here I am books, books everywhere but not a read in sight.

I wish I'd kept 'Shogun' given away but I could reread that with pleasure.

Anyway - just a oan - but does anyone ever feel the same way?
