I definitely do-I tend to read what others call "beach book" weight books during the school year, when all I really want from a book is entertainment and escape-don't make me think, don't make me sad, don't gross me out. Just take me away to England and let me solve a mystery!
I read the "deeper" books during the summer. In December I read old favorites-Little Women, In This House of Brede, ...and Ladies of the Club, The Kitchen Madonna.

Dickens seems like a winter read to me, probably because I once took a Dickens course that began in the January semester. We had a city-closing blizzard about the middle of that month, and I read the first assignment, Pickwick Papers, and ate a whole Chocolate Chess Pie by myself in two days.

I do read Christmas books in December, but I don't think I read anything else seasonally.

I don't think I read seasonally other than holiday books at Christmas, but I do tend to read a run of similar books at a time, then read another run of different similar books.

I think sometimes that I read seasonally (I know I did last Christmas) and sometimes I don't. I'll have to check my reading record. I know I buy books seasonally - for example, I bought a book on African-American history that was interesting since it was in a display at B&N focused on the event of Black History Month.

Oh, and I bought a book of short love stories: "My Mistress's Sparrow is Dead" edited by Jeffrey Eugenides and it's close to Valentine's Day. Haven't read it yet, but I am a sucker for a good love story (excluding Danielle Steele and that ilk although they had a place in my high school reading years).

So I suppose the answer to the question would be I read seasonally a bit.

I don't think I intentionally read by the season, but I've noticed that I hanker to reread books around the time of the year when I first read them. Huckleberry Finn is a June book because I discovered it on a long trip to Florida with my family in 1960. I was so enchanted with Moses and the 'Bullrushers' and the hairball oracle that I entertained my parents and annoyed my brothers by reading aloud all the passages that tickled me.

Gone with the Wind is a May book, forever associated with the end of the school year because I had to hurry to finish it in the seventh grade before the school library closed for summer.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a summer book, not only because I first read it during the summer of 1961 but because so many of the important parts of the story itself take place during summer (when Dill was in Maycomb). 'Course it's a good Halloween book, too, with the ham costume and the horrible thing that happened. Winter's good, too, with the descriptions of Aunt Alexandra's cooking at Christmas and building a hermaphrodite snowman. Come to think of it, To Kill a Mockingbird is a book for all seasons, yet it is still mostly a summer book in my mind.

Like Carolyn, I think of Dickens as winter reading. Maybe it's A Christmas Carol, but I bet I probably experienced most of my Dickens during that season. Longer books = winter, shorter books = summer. Now that I live in a place that really only has two seasons (normal most of the year and the season of Kona winds -- intermittent between October and April), I seem to be drawn to books set in places with variable extremes of seasons. I haven't figured out that impulse.

I think there is something about the extreme weather in both summer and winter that influences my reading. Somehow, for me "Little Women" should be Christmas reading, or at least during the winter season, set in cold New England, as it is. Definitely "Ethan Frome" is a snowy winter book, IMO.

I would say that "Tom Sawyer" is a summer vacation read, as that was when I discovered it as a child. I have so many early memories of summers spent reading up in my favorite tree, which had a natural "seat", until my father cut it down....

Frieda, the year I lived in Hawaii I wrote to a cousin that I was missing the leaves changing color. She wrote back and sent me a red maple leaf.

I nearly froze to death reading Laura Ingalls Wilder's The Long Winter before wrapping it as a Christmas gift for my daughter.
