Agapanthus seed has a fairly short viability, so plant them straight away, I find they do much better if sown as soon as they are ripe. They usually germinate in 2-3 weeks if fresh.

They don't require any special treatment, I don't use any additional heat, just in the greenhouse.

Sow them in a deep pot rather than seed trays though as they produce a long root.

Thanks very much for the info I will be up the greenhouse tommorrow & get them started. I would have sown them in a seed tray so will follow your advice & put in a pot.I shall have to cross my fingers hard by the look of it. I have kept the seed in a constant cool temp. If my plants flower again this year I will save the seeds & sow the seed when ripe as you say & not wait.

The cool probably won't have hurt. They seem to have a staggered germination - some in autumn and others over the winter, into spring.
