I don't know, but I have read at places that sell the glass, that you need the correct burner. That doesn't mean they just want to sell a burner, it might be required to be safe. Woodland direct, for instance says their glass should be used "only when using vent-free approved burner system". Call them (by "them" I mean anyone that sells the glass) and ask if you can use it with the burner that you have, that you are not interested in replacing the burner. Since I am sure they would rather sell just the glass than nothing at all, if they don't recommend using it unless you replace the burner, then you probably have your answer. You could also visit a local fireplace dealer and ask.

I did a search on this subject but still not sure if I should be concerned as it doesn't appear that any professionals have chimed in. Just noticed this wet spot after our mini pebble was applied yesterday. DH says he noticed all along that there was a wet spot on the gunite in that area... wish he had pointed it out to me earlier. We are currently getting acid wash and will begin our fill in a couple of hours. Should we be concerned with this spot?

Of course it can be rust and rebar related. Rust spots will brush off and then come back in a few days. It is quite a normal process. The fact that it is there is not normal. It is most likely a tie wire on the rebar that did not get cut. Almost impossible to see unless to have a good QC guy prior to plaster. Many pools are plastered with exposed rebar. They simply paint it and plaster over it. The result is a piece of steel only an inch or two below the surface and if there is an imperfection in the surface, which pebble tec can easily have, you can get a spot. Yes, nails are all over the pool in construction. Concrete nails are used to secure bender board for tile and coping installation. Could be that too. If it's a tie wire, and you catch it early, it will not hit your rebar, but once it does, it will start corrosion there and it can get ugly. Have the plaster company check it out. They can usually chip it out and patch.
