Wasabi

I want to grow some in winter in my shade house (it still may be too hot). Does anyone know were I can get some seeds? Do a google on Wasabi if your interested it looks like an interesting market garden crop, if you live in Tasmania or Victoria.

I've only seen wasabi seed for sale in overseas catalogues. Doesn't mean it's not here though. It's currently an allowed import so you could order some seeds from OS, if none turn up here.

I was thinking about contacting the DPI or maybe a farmer who is producing it commercially, if not I know someone who can get it for me in NZ.
It sounds like an intersting plant to try and grow.

Thanks for the reply, yeah, wasabi is a Japanese horseradish, I looked at some pics of Daikon and IÂm pretty sure its not what they were describing on the gardening show which only showed the leaves, none of the roots. The good news is my local Shoprite has a new product this week, Wasabi Sauce with ginger, really very good but of course there is no wasabi listed among the ingredients. Its one of the best "make believe" wasabi IÂve tasted.
