Just to let you know, my "Over The Moon" that started as a bareroot in the Spring is now abut 4 1/2' tall and is blooming like crazy and they are beautifully made and of good size. The form on most is impeccable and I think could make a fine exhibition rose. Mine is definitely lightly fragrant. The bush itself has stayed very clean of BS or PM and there didn't seem to be any insect problem either. I will see how winter hardy it is this winter because I don't winter protect except to let oak and maple leaves that fall are allowed to cover the rose beds and then be blown out in the Spring. John

Hi Deanna, we are known to drink many cups of tea each day,..everytime a visitor arrives you offer a cup of tea so you end up with a lot of tea leaves at the end of a week,..i get a sort of perverse enjoyment opening up the semi dried tea bags and admiring all the tea to be spread around the base of plants,..in particular rose bushes,..lol at your remark that thankfully you have stopped growing,..but hopefully just as healthy,..even though you don't flower. Oh all my stuff is far from blooming,..i still have Delphiniums,Foxgloves,Larkspur,Calendula,Mahonia japanica,Chrysanthemum,foxgloves,Crocosmia,Sedum,Black Mondo Grass,yet to flower but i look forward to Verbascium Niger to see how tall it will grow this year,..there are several in the garden,..i don't know where they came from,..volunteer Plants. I had a nice surprise this morning,.. one of the two volunteer poppies flowered,..they are about 2 1/2 high and grew among the Lupin plants,..the friend who gave me the seeds has no Poppies,amazing where they come from. I like both the old and the new... my problem is choosing from the multitudes available! My gardening budget won't allow me to buy all the ones I really like! There are just way too many choices! Right now, the gardens hold several in red shades, a few yellows and oranges, and a pink or two... since I just recently became a "Daylily Addict", I can't name the ones I have without searching for the tags! I do know the last pink I acquired was "Halls Pink", which I think is just gorgeous! Not only am I addicted to Daylilies, I'm also addicted to Hippeastrums, and I have a growing fondness for other types of Lilies, as well... I plan to spend some free time over winter making a wish list of Daylily varieties I'd like to add to the gardens next season... I wish a lot of the newer varieties weren't so expensive! Some are just so eye catching and luscious that I can hardly say no to them, even with a big price tag attached! My gardening addictions are turning out to be expensive ones! Did I mention that I'm also partially addicted to miniature roses?! I could go broke before spring ever gets here just placing a few orders for Daylilies and mini roses! How am I going to manage getting any of the other perennials I want to grow?! Is there a Daylilys Anonymous Chapter anywhere?! By the way... thank you all for posting such lovely pictures! A few of them have made their way onto my wish list!

Ahh yes, the math skills are really horrible (I don't know if this is just an epidemic in WV or if the whole US is calculator spoiled). I'll never forget one time I was at McDonald's and my total came to something like $4.96 and I gave her a $5...she messed up the register and was completely lost as to how much to give me back. I said "it's just 4 cents, don't worry about it"...but she said "well, then my register will be off"...so I waited for her to go get her supervisor who proceeded to use a calculator to figure up my change. I was completely dumbfounded. I'm not sure those were the exact amounts..but it was very simple math...so sad. The bad thing is I've seen several examples similar to this. For a short while while I was in college, I worked at Shoney's. I ended up quitting after about a month or so because the supervisor kept forcing me to work over when I had exams yo study for and things I really needed to get home to...but when I went in to quit, the manager came into the office and tried to talk me out of it because they had been having trouble finding people who can count back change! Amazing to me.
