I have lost the directions that were attached to my Pest Oil bottle.

Can anybody help me with dilution ratios PLEASE?

For most pests such as the scales, the mixing rate is 15 to 25 mls per litre. For worse pests such as mealybug, you can use up to 30 mls.

For general use 10ml per litre. As pcoppin said up to 30ml/litre for difficult situations
Spray in the cool part of the day.
Followup sprays for scale, weekly for about a month to break the life cycle of the scale. ie. you don't kill the adult scale but the crawlers.
Don't spray citrus trees from May till September (I think).

If you use large quantities of pest oil you can get DC-Tron Plus (which is Pest Oil) from your local Ampol/Caltex fuel depot for around $70.00 for 20 litres. Ampol make the stuff.

Thanks Dave! I think it is cutworms because a. when I looked them up online I realized I had seen them in the soil and b. while my plants are on the established side, they are still young and all the damage has been done on small and thin branches. For example, this morning the pea plant had been cut in four places. It was a tall plant and had once been covered with peas--thus hard to get a collar around--but still a young and tender plant that a cutworm could hurt. I could be wrong. I like the popsicle stick idea a lot. However I'm not ruling other things, like voles (we do have them in California), out since it doesn't explain everything, like what ate the leeks from underneath. I haven't seen any holes or signs of burrowing. The only sign of anything being eaten was the leek. Everything else was just cut at a tender place and lying there on the ground. It's possible there are two culprits. This is the first time I've dealt with nocturnal pests and it is frustrating! Next time there is damage, I'll take a picture and post it.

It can be difficult to diagnose leaf spot diseases because the symptoms from sevedal can resemble each other. I could only guess that these lesions might be a bacterial leaf spot disease. Doesn't look environnental to me, as teen suggested.

Let me clarify on the word fast. :-) I needed fast info, not fast pest relief! Haha Fortunately we haven't used any chemicals on the lawn before it was made into a garden spot. I am going to guess for sure 9 years of organic, I would have to ask my husband before that as I did not live here with him. I am planning on planting a fall garden, but not the entire thing, and ALL will be amended with compost, as much as I can afford, anyway. Next year,, i will be more choosy on what I plant, and when I plant it. I learned a lot this year, by failing at most of it, unfortunately.

I have found that the label on Pest Oil is attached to the container in such a way that on pealing the label back, the instructions - and especially the dilution rates - are rendered illegible.

What I would like to know is whether Pest Oil is suitable for all plants or just those with thick shiny leaves like camellias and so on. Can it be used on soft leaved plants? I wouldn't think it suitable for ferns. Mainly I need to spray for mite damage on impatiens, lace wing on azaleas and aphis on roses and chrysanthemums. Would it be suitable for all those applications and what would the dilution rates be?
