Australian Native Plants

Good value nursery in CQ

Hi All,

Firstly, I am not affiliated with these guys in any way, and I dont gain anything financially from recommending, but I have to commend a nursery which keeps its proces so low when the trend seems to be 'put everything up by $1' elsewhere ...

'Yarandoo' nursery, in Renshaw St North Rocky, have a good range of natives and exotics, and seem to be expanding their tropicals. They are one of the few nurseries with tubestock natives ($2.50 ea), and their 6" and 8" pots are also very well-priced (they use a colour-coded system for pricing, with red pots more expensive than green). I have been buying from them for over 12 months, and havent had a single problem with quality.

I'm happy to hear recommendations re other nurseries, both in CQ and across Oz, offering good value for money.

Cheers,

Artie

for people near perth Id highly recommend lullfitz nursery in wanneroo. Ive dealt with them a couple of times and they are so knowledgeable about the plants and really helpful. It's a bit of a drive out there from the city but so satisfying :) and beats the pants off bunnings meagre native range so if you get a chance, go out there.

I went out there again recently and there is so much in flower right now so it's a good time to go if youre looking for natives. lots of grevilleas, lots of everything really, plus lots of things youve probably never even heard of as well.

There are many good mail order nurseries out there, the one mentioned is not exactly at the top of the list. Go to Dave's Garden, Garden Watchdog and check out what other people have to say about various other nurseries. Yes , the plants will come boxed. 30 plants would probably require several boxes, but they would not be individually boxed. Most of the better mail order nurseries are quite good at packing olants for shipping.

I am glad to find Rountree well liked when I saw this old thread. I have been checking out like every greenhouse in charlotte and they have really impressed me. Aside from Rountree, I also love Campbell's Greenhouse on South blvd. It is in South End just below East; next to the Mr K's soda shoppe & the Chipotle, so it is very very convenient if you live or work in uptown. It looks like a tiny place on the outside but there is a nice long greenhouse stuffed full of beautifully cared for orchids and houseplants and vines, and then an outdoor area behind with lots of good stuff. A much smaller operation than Rountree, I have only ever seen 4 or 5 people there, but they have chatted with me a lot and answered all my questions until I was always comfortable. Every house plant I have purchased there is still lush and healthy. So I frequent them too.

If your mind needs easing, you should not feel disappointed in your Krossa Regal not being Big Daddy. Barring possible nems, it can only get better and better and that green/grey color will stand out. Supplement with Regal Splender if you can find them. RS is a variegated form of KR. Theresa

I & G farms on whitesville road (#527) in Jackson (huge selection, good prices), and Grawtown nursery on grawtown road again in Jackson(look for coupons in tri-town news) There are also a couple on Route #9 in lakewood. I don't know their names. On Cross Street in lakewood before it comes out onto Route #9, shaped like a barn, but don't know that name either. In Lakehurst on Route #70 between the 2 circles near burger king (limited selection) (Yes, this is my part of town) Andrea Appaloosa909
