I acquired 'Desert Blaze' on sale at a local nursery here in Raleigh last fall. The person that I bought it from warned me to be vigilant in cutting back any branches that started to show signs of reversion to non-variegated leaves. So far it has not put on enough new growth for me to tell how much of a problem that will be here, but I suspect that the nursery personnel had been trimming these plants back and that was the reason that they were somewhat straggly looking.

I baught 8 small salvia splendens plants from a supermarket today ( I know, stupid to buy plants from supermarkets, but it was their first morning on the shelf. I saw them being put out and impulse baught). they were already trying to flower but I took the flowering parts off because they were so small. I want them to grow bigger first and they had tiny new leaves growing too. did I do the right thing? I'm only 16 and I don't know a lot about gardening yet. my grandma used to grow these in her garden. they were my fave when I was little.
