Nancy, I once had mine do the same thing for me a couple years ago and nothing since!!! That's crazy. They smell so good too. I think I had mine in the little greenhouse all winter the year mines did and fertilized all winter. I am trying the same thing again this year. I will take a photo for you on the one I started from that very plant , the momma you have there)) There si something about yours that just makes me smile so much. Thank you for sharing. The temps not so bad yesterday 70 here. Crazy. Still I have many annuals just pushing growth in pots but after this weekend it will be the end.((( Mike

For anyone who wishes to order hoyas from Thailand or any other foreign country for that matter,make sure that you can get a phyto certificate to accommodate your shipment before you pay for it. Customs has been getting their panties in a twist lately and destroying any shipments that are not accompanied by proper documentation. I had a rather large order of rare hoyas coming from Thailand that were shipped on 8/11. The box finally showed up at my house on 8/26. EMPTY!!!! All that was in it was a piece of paper from customs stating that the cuttings had in fact been inspected,were found to be insect and disease free but due to no phyto ( my fault) with the shipment ,my hoyas were destroyed. Bad part about it was that instead of the idiot inspector destroying the box as well, I mean hey if you trash the plants,trash the box too,they found it amusing to go ahead and send me the empty box. A letter would have been fine, my name and address were right on the box!!! The Thai vendor who is someone that i've dealt with for several years now was gracious enough to replace the shipment for me,with a phyto this time. That box was mailed last Monday 9/14,it arrived in N.Y. Saturday 9/19 and it was at my house yesterday 9/21,sent EMS. It took exactly 1 week from the day of shipment for me to receive the order and everything was in excellent condition. david

Your S. viminale is looking great. That's a lot of buds! Your plant is the hanging variety... the vining variety would climb up the chain link fence. That's too bad about the Aloe mites! I wonder if some Aloes are less susceptible than others. Some of my Aloes have been hit by the Aloe aphid, but I noticed it's really just the Aloes that are getting too much shade. The friend who shared the Hoya seeds usually gets quite a few pods on his Hoyas. He doesn't pollinate the flowers... they are naturally pollinated. Most of the pods are on his Hoya australis which regularly volunteers in his garden. I think part of the reason that he ends up with so many pods is because he has the largest outdoor collection of Hoyas that I've personally seen. Since there are so many Hoyas blooming at the same time I wonder how likely it is that the Hoya seedlings are hybrids. Have you ever tried hand-pollinating a Hoya? A while back I figured out how to remove the pollen packets, but I didn't know where to put them. On [this page[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/can-i-hand-pollinate-hoyas-dsvw-vd~1976896) there's a photo which shows where the pollen is supposed to go. If you have any Hoyas in bloom you could bring a couple flowers over and we can practice on them.
