WANTED: Hoya pubicalyx 'leenie'
Comments (1)I am a great fan of the Hoya pubicalyx. I have just started collecting, and while most are not big enough to take cuttings from, I did recently receive extra cuttings of 'Splash' if you would be interested in it. You can email me at jan2san@verizon.net and mention hoya pubicalyx....See MoreWANTED: Rooting Hoya Pubicalyx 'pink silver'

Comments (1)Hoya pubicalyx is the species and the rest of the various names are given to horticultural selections or sometimes naturally found variants. The horticultural selections like Pink Silver, Royal Hawaiian Purple and Chimera are selected because of different flower colour or leaf colour traits but they are all the same species. Hoya pubicalyx Chimera has a tendency to produce multi coloured blooms that are randomly splashed with a lighter or darker colour. I am not sure if Royal Hawaiian Purple has the same tendency but it's leaves are a beautiful dark purple while developing. If you are shopping for a Hoya pubicalyx just find one with a trait you like such as a specific flower colour and don't worry too much about the variety name that is associated with it, these names are not registered anyways so there are more floating around out there than there probably should be considering some of the varieties are so close together in appearance. I'm sure there are differnt clones, so maybe that's the difference. But my 'RHP' has no silver flecking at all, so it makes me wonder if there is perhaps a clone of 'RHP' out there that might actually be a cross between the very splashy clone of 'PS' that I have and 'RHP'. You're 'PS' is much less flecked and leaves are wider than mine. I think it's so interesting how many different clones there are of these pubicalyx cultivars!! Denise in Omaha...See MorePoohBearLvr
