Hello Mary, First of all you need to post this in the discussion section of the Hoya forum here in Garden Web. You will get more feedback on your questions. This is the exchance section for the Hoya forum, it's for trading cuttings. Your Hoya Stripes, can you post a picture of it? (on the discussion forum). The box stores (Lowes, Home Depo, Target and Walmart etc) carry an Exotic Angel Hoya named hoya stripes which is actually Hoya Curtisii, if that is indeed what hoya you have. There are about 300 species of hoyas so when you say 'small leaves' it could be alot of them. That's when it's good to post a picture, I personally think it's best to post a picture of the whole plant (to see growth pattern) and then a close up picture of a leaf. Even if you post a picture sometimes you may not still have a definate ID based on the leaves on your hoya, you may have to wait until it blooms. As for the string of hearts hoya, haven't heard of it. I have herd of string of pearls which is not a hoya. There is a hoya called Kerrii or Sweatheart hoya with actual heart shaped leaves. Here's a picture of a couple of my Kerri's. Variegated heart leaf kerrii Hoya Kerrii Hoya Kerrii 'reverse' This is not a Kerrii but it does have heart shaped leaves. It's called Hoya Deykeae Lipstick plant is not a hoya. I seriously doubt if all hoyas are labeled in the box stores with the name Hoya on it. Some don't even have labels at all. If they do have a label, some of the Exotic Angel hoyas are not names correctly anyway. Confusing I know but just need to get to know your hoyas so if you see one in the box stores you can get it and know it is in fact a hoya regardless of the tag/name. Hi wanna_run_faster, I would be interested if you still have some left. The hoyas that I have are publix, krimson queen (big cuttings of these), H. serpens (a cutting with maybe 5 leaves) and I have a newer one that I could do a stem piece with 2 leaves. It has long thin leaves (I could send a photo). I also have AV Baby Brian and/or Ever Grace. LMK if your interested, Thanks, Catrina

Nancy, I once had mine do the same thing for me a couple years ago and nothing since!!! That's crazy. They smell so good too. I think I had mine in the little greenhouse all winter the year mines did and fertilized all winter. I am trying the same thing again this year. I will take a photo for you on the one I started from that very plant , the momma you have there)) There si something about yours that just makes me smile so much. Thank you for sharing. The temps not so bad yesterday 70 here. Crazy. Still I have many annuals just pushing growth in pots but after this weekend it will be the end.((( Mike

Hello everyone! I normally post on the fragrant and plumeria forums but have been lurking here lately. :) Here is my Hoya obscura 'Major' that I purchased from Kartuz Greenhouses back in October 2011. It's growing in a gritty mix with Dynamite slow release fertilizer. I occasionally give it some Dyna-Gro Grow. Recently after reading on this forum about Eleanor's VF-11 I ordered some and sprayed the plant with it yesterday. Being a fragrance nut I'm hoping to get it to bloom. It's in a south facing window but will go outside in filtered sun when it's warm enough. Would love to get any tips on how to get it to bloom...though I fear I just have to wait until the plant gets large enough. The good news is that it's been putting out lots of new growth lately so fingers crossed! :) Anyone ever sniff this variety? How does it compare to the regular H. obscura? -Robert
