Oops, I meant spaghetti squash every couple days during the summer, then the second batch would be whatever we could store for the winter. Sorry that wasn't clear. Does anyone use fertilizer on their spaghetti squash and notice a difference? What type of fertilizer? I'm thinking of keeping it simple and only using organic fish fertilizer for my spaghetti squash - to keep the vines healthy enough to fight off pests and diseases. I may just stick with the five plants we currently have for this year to see how they grow. Then decide if we want more next year. We had several different kinds of squash and melons and tomatoes growing in the same small area 15 years ago. We had a lot of tomatoes along the fence but the only thing I can remember about the spaghetti squash is that we didn't plant enough. Since we have only been growing tomatoes and peppers lately, I really want to have a good variety of our favorite vegetables this year, but my memory isn't what it used to be. I remember having a lot of tomatoes, the birds ate all the peas, the squirrels ate all the corn, and I fell in love with homegrown beets. Thanks all for the input. I have grown spaghetti squash in NC. They are prolific producers and get rather large. My squashes averaged about 3.5 lbs. I let mine sprawl out on the ground and the squash sat on straw mulch. I hope you have a very strong trellis. How many plants? When the leaves begin to die, the squash will turn yellow. They can be kept for a few months if they are kept cool and dry. I cure mine by keeping in a warm(70), dark place for about a week after I dip it in a weak bleach solution to kill any fungus that may promote rot. I also keep it away from other ripening fruit or veggie, because the ethylene gas given off by the ripening process will affect storage for the worse. Good luck and enjoy. .

They are winter type squash. The standard rule rule is wait until the skin gets too hard to cut with a finger nail. As with any winter squash they get less watery when allowed to cure for a short time before eating.
