Well, if you want to do what is best for the bulbs and the person receiving them let them go dormant when they want to and then ship later this year. This will ensure that the bulbs/rhizomes have stored up plenty of energy for next years growth. Best of luck with your decision :o) Dan

I've successfully moved Watsonia bulbs (actually, they are corms) after the foliage has mostly died back. You'll usually find new corms attached to the shrivelled up old ones, which can be discarded. If you don't need to move all the corms, one thing I have done which is pretty easy is to yank on the dead/dying foliage as hard as I can. At least half the time the corm comes up with the foliage, and I don't have to do any digging. Good luck!

They'll get confused if you store them in the fridge, then pull them out and plant them before late autumn. There is no need to refrigerate them. Dig them, shake off the soil, and put several together in a big pot layered with pine mulch. Keep them in the shade. Don't cut off the tops unless they are brown. Water occasionally, but don't keep them wet. Plant as soon as you are able. Lainey

I didn't and wouldn't. The last process in moving back into your kitchen should be a very complete cleaning, including dusting the shelves inside the cabinets. You don't know how the install might go, often there is a bit of a mess, not huge but some. I'm wierd about that type of cleaning I guess, but a week or two waiting until the kitchen is makes a lot more sense.
