In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the...Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. * * * * * * * Oh, king eh? Very nice. And how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers. By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society. Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. Oh, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you. Oh but if I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away. Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed! See the violence inherent in the system. See the violence inherent in the system. Oh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about! Did you see him repressing me? You saw him, Didn't you? My bad, somebody's a little punchy tonight!

In my climate you have to add 10 days to 2 weeks (approx) to DTM numbers for the early varieties. If they say DTM is 60, actually it will be like 70 to 75. I know how Bloody Butcher, Early Treat and Siletz did last season. Another thing is that USDA zone number does not say anything about summer weather. All it says is how cold and long winters are. You might be some place in zone 6 and have a much better summer growing conditions that we have in our PNW zone 8. . Sey

Lilyfinch, this is just like me! I now realize I already have one of those weasels gifted to me a couple of years ago. I've been using it to hold up some twine to mark out edging! I didn't even realize what it was, but at least now I'm oiling it up for some use now that my long serpent-tongued weeder broke off.: ( Thanks for letting me know. I'd love to see this thing in action if anyone is up for a quick video. : ) P.S. We just had a discussion of the propane-type burners on the Organic Rose forum if anyone wants to check it out.
