Nice tree, Marjorie! Thanks for the pics. Steve, that fist Mandarinquat I picked was very bland and not juicy. I left it on the tree way too long. But the next harvest was all together different. I really, really liked the taste. I use them squeezed in soda water. Dave in NoVA nailed it on flavor - it's like a big, juicy kumquat. A bit sweeter.. I much prefer these over kumquats. It is a seedy fruit. My tree has grown so much in 3 years. I had a hard time carrying it in/out of the door over winter (put it outside on warm days). Need to prune it this year. I'll try to upload a current pic soon.

As a general rule successfully growing any type of Stone Fruit in Texas requires an active pest control program, spraying for both insect and bacterial issues, though such environmental pressure may be lower in the pan handle region, with the difference being in the pan handle it may be possible for the trees to live without such active programs, assuming they are a regionally appropriate variety.

When the photo has uploaded in an initial post it will change from foggy looking to losing the fog. With follow up comment it will become visible when uploaded. I tend to start a photo loading and then go refill my coffee or something while I am waiting since it reduces the frustration.

Right. Going on the opposite foliage and the shape of the fruit I wondered about something in the Myrtaceae. I found Eugenia myrcianthes. Ronald, if you are still there, what do you think? If it is the same location then it’s a good example of how important it is to give as much info. as possible. Googling the name of the park and ‘tree’ would have got that reference very quickly.
