Here's a glimpse of my 10 y/o son's room. It needs help. After seeing your before and after pictures and actually seeing my uploaded picture, I'm strongly considering painting the slanted walls in his room. We recently replaced his carpet with the hardwood, removed popcorn texture, painted his room, and put up that ceiling fan that "he" picked out. I have not got to the accessorizing part yet, so there is not much to see (except red walls and those slanted walls that now really seem to stick out like a sore thumb). Whenever I get to that point, I will post more pictures. Again I love the color of your son's room, and I hope you will post it again after it is decorated. BTW I don't think you're nuts:)

That is the prettiest backsplash I have ever seen. I love: - the surprise sparkly squares - the color flow between the backsplash and the granite - the large amount of bright white in the backsplash and granite, with a minimum of grey (I like silver/gold, but not grey tones) - how the cabinet stain seems to match a hue in the mosaic backsplash... PERFECTLY! As though the cabinet stain was designed for that mosaic or vice-versa. Wow. Also quite clever is that curve-around feature on the peninsula. That looks very fun and very practical. Questions: Do you do cartwheels into this kitchen every morning from sheer glee? Did you put brackets under the granite curved out part? What chairs did you settle on ? Thanks to the person who linked to this thread from a posting today!

When we go back we will take the good camera, hopefully it can capture more of the colors than the iPad. With the light hitting the stone it really did a number on the colors captured. You can see some of the browns in the top picture from their website if you look near the white spots. Some of the medium grey is that mossy sage green color. I know the granite guy had said a natural cherry or just about any brown would look lovely (I had already told him we aren't doing painted cabs). I admit I wasn't prepared for finding a stone, I may well have just been carried away and not noticed enough detail in the coloring. It really was spectacular in person! I am very much looking forward to taking some doors back up there, hopefully next week. I appreciate the feedback, I will go with an open mind. I didn't have much of a color scheme in mind, other than I wanted medium to dark cabinets. DH wanted dark floors, dark cabinets, dark granite. I was not a fan of the really dark granites he wanted, but this one is dark enough for him, not predominately brown (he does not like brown), and I really love all the colors. So we will work backwards from there!

well.. thank you so much! I was thinking it looked a little like old mayonnaise or urine in snow. But it's hard to argue with so many free-to-be honest strangers. I've feel much better. You're right, the tyvek and white vans have to be contributing. Narrowing down to two stones but both are basically light grayish-white with yellow/gold fieldstone. Thank you again for the comments. I will also take the evergreen advice. Really appreciate it.
