You can Post your Pics from Photobucket this way

If you want to post your pics from Photobucket all you have to do it make your Album public, and copy and paste the URL of the page with the big pic on to the "Optional Link URL" after you have Previewed your message and dont forget to give it a name......Only drawback is our members can look at all the pics in the Albums, but only flowers and plants in mine.......Cheers..MM.

Thanks MM-I had considered it before but I had hoped that ivillage would rectify the problem though something tells me that they made a deliberate change-that it isn't a technical glitch. The forums are dying and it is so sad to see-how many people can YOU think of that don't come here any more? Sure ivillage have got the figures to show advertisers but they are empty figures-generally people just stop coming-they don't cancel their membership. I have been coming here since 1994 and it breaks my heart to see what is happening here. Anyway-my photobucket album is open to anyone who wants to look-I had a recent cleanout but there are some old scans and the beginnings of uploading the daily prowl around the yard with the digital camera. Let's hope that the new year brings POSITIVE changes to the forums. regards sandie

Hi Sandie and Thank you for a look into your Album, it was a beautiful experience, your photo's and scans are perfect, my and you are very clever with the dough, and did you make that jewellery so many secret talents. Now having seen more of your roses I fell in love with that Buff coloured one I will have to go back and get the name it will have to go on my wish list, mind you the weather here is not very kind to the roses as it has been in the high 30's for a while now, 37 today, but I seen in the news it will be like that down there so your roses will be suffering too................... I have too agree with you about this website and I know that there are lots of people out there that dont get on any more .... I have only been coming here just under 2 years but in that time I have made a few personal friends and lots of on line ones and it will be a shame to loose them but like you I feel they have decided ages ago what they wish to do when they bought it, but you never know things may come back to what they used to be so here's hoping.......And a Happy New Year to you........Cheers..MM.

I'm a definite Bradford hater -- if I want to insult something that only has the thinnest shell of superficial appeal but is really very poor I'll often refer to it is as the Bradford pear of sweet potatoes/cars/paintings/etc. -- but even as a Bradford hater, I've frequently noticed the attractive deep red fall color of the invasive callery seedlings in my pasture. There's a photo in the link below (an old thread on this forum) that's very similar, although I don't have quite so many as in the photo. I haven't noticed very nice color on the full grown intentionally planted trees, but maybe it's the same and I just haven't noticed. I'll say the color in the photo above taken in the parking lot looks like the color is tending toward a duller brownish red. That tree/photo doesn't do much for me. It does more for me than the flowers in the spring, though. I think a flowering wild plum or peach or even some wild cherries are much prettier than Bradford pears. I even prefer the gentler beauty of a flowering red maple. One thing I like about callery pears, though, is what handy rootstocks they make for eating pears. If I ever want another pear tree I rarely have to dig any holes or plant or water anything, because callery pears are invasive enough that I can mostly just find a volunteer to let size up for a year and then graft onto (if not one to graft right away.) I know this has been up for more than a year and I'm wondering if Photobucket has changed since then. I've noticed here and on other forums that this method of posting pics results in a huge photo that causes text to be stretched out across the page. Would it be possible to update these instructions? Photobucket now offers clickable thumbnails and those don't interfere with text positioning. There's also a resizing tool, but it appears to be a bit of a hassle. Could someone explain how to use that?

Susan - I am not sure about PB resizing, but I think they do. I am on dialup - so I always resize before I upload or it would take a month of Sundays to do. I downloaded a Power Toy from Microsoft that quickly resizes pictures (and renames them automatically so you don't screw up the original) - it is for XP. I am assuming your friend has a Vista machine - they are for XP only- but I will link it anyway. You just right click on image and select "resize" and it gives you some options. Maybe VISTA has it built in. The "image resizer" download is towards the bottom on the right side. Also - you can resize an image by emailing it to yourself (works with Outlook Express anyway). Just right click on the image and select "SEND TO" then "eMAIL RECIPIENT" and then follow the steps that say "make my pictures smaller" - then you can email it to yourself and save the emailed image (renaming it). That is few more steps. There are quite a few free photo editors out there to download also - I prefer to use card readers when I upload my pictures. I also find them handy to add data/files back onto the cards. I use my SD cards for many other applications other than just in my camera. I have a little card reader that I insert my card into - and also my photo printer has card readers built in. Here is a link that might be useful: Power Toys Image Resizer - XP ONLY

Sandie I love the forum having made delightful online friends who hopefully,maybe, someday I'll meet and it would be a sorry loss to me if the forum was to wither away....We will just have to hope for the best...cheers...Michelle

Thankyou for the peep into your album Sandie. You appear to quite a talented craftsperson! I love that beading. Your roses are so beautiful it almost makes me cry! Mine just look like frizzled old rubbish at the moment. Most disheartening........The forums will only die if we let them. Keep posting.........Cheers, Dee.
