Use seed, You must remove the seed from the flesh , soak overnight and clean the seed - wash all flesh off, always use the freshest seed you can get. I have had varied results but always get some up - just plant in pots in standard new potting mix, a little apart but as many as you like in the pot. When they germinate wait until there are at least for leaves then gently squeeze the pot and carefully ease the plants out and pot into their own small deep container. Do not tip out the pot as there may be more still to germinate. Germination should take from less than a month to 3,4 months or more it depends on the temp.

If you're looking for a lilly-pilly/ syzygium of no more than medium height, you couldn't go past Acmena smithii minor 'cherry surprise', which is a particularly lovely one to 2 to 3 metres. It's an attractive deep green in colour, with pink to red tips. Another lovely one, though perhaps not as hardy, is Acmena variegata, which grows to 3 metres. Nice, natural shape, dense in leaf. There' also a number of syzygiums worth considering, just make sure they are psysilid resistant. In fact there is one on the market named 'Resilence'. Worth a try. B

HELLO I HAVE PLANTED 30 ADVANCED LILLY PILLY BACKYARD BLISS IN GISBOURNE VICTORIA AS A HEDGE BACK IN MARCH. THEY WERE NOT POT BOUND WHEN PUT INTO GROUND. ABOUT A MONTH THEY BEGAN TO TURN YELLOW IN THEIR LEAVES SO I APPLIED IRON CHELLATES AND A NATIVE FERTILISER. NOW ON ONE OF THE PLANTS THE FOILAGE IS FALLING OFF, LIKE IT IS DYING. IM A LITTLE STUBBED AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING, MAYBE THE SOIL IS TOO COLD FOR LILLY PILLY'S, I DONT KNOW. CAN SOMEBODY SUGGUEST TO ME ON WHAT TO DO AS THIS HEDGE COST ME OVER $ 2,000. Hi. Is anyone able to ID this Lilly Pilly? I had thought it was Hinterland Gold however I'm not the greatest at identification. Grows to about 3-4 meters. New growth has some red on it but not much. Thanks in advance.
