Dianne, I saw a red admiral this afternoon, too, the first one I've seen in a while. If yours was hanging out around your pond, it might be that it's a female looking to lay eggs on false nettle. FN grows around ponds and other places with standing water. The RA that I saw this afternoon was brilliantly colored, like it had just recently emerged. I think there must be a lot of false nettle around White Pond, a REAL big pond (more like a lake) which is near here - I'm afraid to walk over there and find out, because there are reported to be cottonmouth snakes in the creek that feeds the pond. I've seen false nettle growing at another place with standing water, in fact, that's where I got the cuttings that I rooted for myself. I'd love to have some RA cats to raise for the first time. Wow, sold out already. I'm not surprised. Well, at least she plans on propagating more. Maybe she is able to get it to root easily. I know she does bud some roses. I thought I had lost my SILK HAT rose this past spring, and emailed her to see if she had it in stock, but she told me she was out, and if I wanted it she would have to bud it. I guess she found it difficult to root. Thankfully tho, my own root one from Vintage Gardens came back from near death. I was sooo glad! Well, hopefully Cynthia, you and anyone else wanting STRANGER can get one in the next batch. I couldn't remember who all wanted it. So that's why I just posted this in general in hopes it would reach those who do want it badly!
