The colour on this is really lovely but the tree seems to struggle along, not as good a grower as it's mates in the background.

Tabebuia, Orchid Tree and Yellow Poinciana From Seed??

I have grown tabebuia from seed. I have several 2 feet tall I need to plant. I didnt do anything special but plant them in pots, but some of the seedlings died from mildew it appeared. I will spray seedlings with fungicide next time. I have grown royal poinciana into trees. I filed them and soaked in warm water a few days & then planted them in pots. We had some tractor work and the dumb man killed my poincianas though. I want more. Good luck growing yours. : )

You can take a paper towel, write on it the seed names (pemanent marker, please), place several in a row, keep it soaking wet for one day and very damp for several days, and you'll get at least some of them to germinate. While this method is for testing the germination rate, I've planted some of the sprouts with success as well. To be statistically significant you'd have to try more than a few, but you've got nothing to loose.

That's fantastic - you don;t have any skills in grafting, do you? I wonder how it would perform on a vigorous red root-stock?
I have a seedling grown one in a tub (what else) I expect I'm still going to have to wait about 10 years for a flower. Must remember to leave it to someone younger, in my will.

Annie I has been there for about 10 years would you beleive but is a bad doer in our poor soil.
The red ones are growing much better for some reason.
Alison, I have a few seeds , don't know how long to flowering but I have a red one that flowered at 3 years so I suppose the same.
Trouble is, I don't know whether the bee who did the pollinating strayed to the red one or came from the red one with his pollen.
There are a few yellow ones round Rockhampton but not as many as the big reds.
